Subsequent Norwegian events for Scotland will also need changing - they should depend on Scotland holding the heart of Norway, AND XXX6 having fired.

Nice work. I didn't really understand why some of the events are there, perhaps because my style of play does aim towards crass explots, which some of your events seek to avoid (glad you are doing that).

A few minor comments only, especially regarding the amount of Stability hits.

As a rule I think that Stab hits are handed out too liberrally in events, and sometimes for the wrong reasons.

For example, in the events above, Scotland takes -2 if it doesn't respond. If Kalmar doesn't give up claims it gets -1. Seems like "Damned if you don't get involved, damned if you do".

I can see how national prestige may be hurt by letting go of claims, but people actually like peace and peace means stability. We should not be handing out a drop of -2 in stability because someone has chosen peace. I would rather see the monarchs DIP rating take a hit for ten years (loss of prestige) than have peace cause serious instability.

I think this is a command that needs to be used a lot more often. Nothing hurts your ability to conduct diplomacy like having your monarch's DIP rating lowered, and I believe that it better reflects the loss of both international prestige and standing among the nobility. Three, five and ten year batches of hits are about the right lengths, depending on severity of the issue.

In the cases such as not going to war, the hits to Monarch Ratings should probably be meted out between both DIP and also MIL, as the king has clearly shown a resolve not to use force, perhaps a lack of faith in the militarily is partly to blame. This will inevitably lead to loss of confidence/morale in the military.

Accordingly, in the Otion_B for the initial event, I would prefer to see the command to reduce Stability replaced with

command = { type = DIP which = -2 value = 60 }
command = { type = MIL which = -2 value = 60 }

I'm handing out stab hits because the loss of prestige is severe: if Scotland lets Kalmar take Norway, it has completely abrogated its duties as protector of the Norwegians: bear in mind that the cost of breaking vassalage as a suzerain is 3 stab, so it's not something that's taken lightly. Kalmar gets -1 in its event for general feebleness - it really isn't hard for Kalmar to take at least the bulk of Norway, and if they fail to do so after 100 years, the rulers will be seen as weak and incompetent, whether or not they say 'we'll do it eventually'.

The hits to monarch score, though, are an excellent idea. I'm reluctant to give Scotland a DIP penalty for trying to patch things up with Kalmar (a MIL penalty would make sense, though), but if Kalmar and Scotland persist in claiming Norway while the people there are hostile to them, then by all means they should be slapped with penalties to DIP. I'll edit something in.

Yes, and the -3 stab hit for failing a vassal is something I also think is over the top. A fourty province country that fails to come to the aid of a distant, wrong-culture one province minor, and somehow the peasants and less nobility in the distant homeland give a damn? Let alone take it as a sign that the end is nigh and the king is weak? Waaaaay over the top.

I use the Monarch Rating hits a lot in the New World material and one of the many many many things I would like to see us do is to go through the events and edit in more of these, and review some of the stability hits. I often get the feeling that event writers have a knee-jerk reaction to use stab hits. As if every thing that happens causes the country to shudder in response.
