Return of the 0,0,0,0 characters

Playing 1066 scenario on version 1.04a (used version from start of game)

Several of my Ducal vassals are now ruled by 0,0,0,0 characters who then proceed to have all of their vassals declare war on them. The readme says this issue is fixed 1.02 ?

If I support the Dukes I get massive badboy penalties, If I don't I lose lots of provinces from my realm (OK, I can afford to lose a few but that's not the point for a megalomaniac).

Is that because of their traits or is that because of their stats ?

Are you sure you are in 1.04a ?

Looking at the save file, the stats were all substantially negative, and they had schizophrenia (which I assume was responsible).

I was getting the fixed from the readme file in the latest patch under the fixed in 1.02 heading.

Well, I presume they were not 0,0,0,0 before they got hit by schizophrenia? All illness and madness traits lower effective stats, which are the ones shown in game and mad (maniac & schizophrenic) people get events that reduce their stats permanently.

So I presume the fixed thing was that there would no longer be base stat 0,0,0,0:s, but it's very much working as designed, if their effective stats become 0,0,0,0 by illnesses or madnesses.

In an early patch there were instances of a character being generated with base stats of 0/0/0/0 which was a bug and was fixed.

It is still possible to have a character with effective stats of 0/0/0/0 if they have lost stats due to trait effects (such as your schizophrenic character) or other event outcomes. This is WAD.

Incidenetally, it can be a lot of fun to roleplay such a monarch. I remember a very entertaining MP session when BiB was playing the King of Jerusalem and got the schizophrenic trait. The subsequent hour or so was hysterical. A number of the rulers of Europe - mysteriously all of them played by humans - suddenly seemed to be the subject of assassination attempts by the wayward king...
