V. 1.08 Bohemia protestant in 1419!

Hi

Last night after playing one game as Austria in the GC, I decided to play it from the start again.
During 1419 Bohemia turned Protestant - now that is extraordinary!
Could this be besause of some cashing from the first game I playd, so the computer thinks that the Reformation already has hapened?

Jakobln

... And then I saw the Sticky: NOT A BUG: Protestant Bohemia: 1419.

Sorry :eek:o

So extraordinary that it's happened in every GC game you've ever played. Since the release of EU2 1.00.

Thanks AndrewT :D

Still I think that a protestant, a 110 years early is remarkable.
Yes, I have read the stickey and the explanations there... :)

Indeed, it is incredibly "remarkable" to insist on having this event with its text and have so many players perplexed that you need a sticky in the Bug Forum. It should have been removed or possibly explained more clearly in the game many years ago, as has been suggested.

For many years there was another anomaly, namely in FRA where you got an event where your leader Gilles de Rai could be sentenced to death if you wanted. But if you did that he still lived on as your leader in the game. Instead of removing that leader until a satisfactory solution was found they let it be. I believe the current solution (found several years after the launch of EU) is working fine although I am not sure I remember how it was (it includes the game having two separate Gilles de Rai leaders IIRC).

----------------

It is important that features in a game like EU do not result in the player saying to himself: how absurd, how unhistorical... Then better to remove the event or add a good explanation why it is as it is. But unfortunately those deciding these things apparently do not share this belief.

The only reason that people find the issue of Protestant Bohemia in 1419 unusual is that 1) They don't play Bohemia, so they don't get to read the Hussite event text, and 2) they don't have a basic understanding of European history as it relates to the development of Protestantism. Oh, yes, and 3) they believe what they read in the manual.

Well that is enough for me. I want this game to sell well. :)
