Son of a preacher man

When playing a game as the Papal states I received the event "Heir to the throne is born ... stability +1".

Ok, so some of the renaissance popes had a bit of a relaxed view on how to apply the church's teachings to them selves but would the people of the Papal States really feel all that happy about a son of the pope?

Yes, yes, I know this could be interpreted in the same generic way as royal marriges between republics but still it would be nice if states ruled by supposedly chaste rulers (Papal States, Mainz, Tibet and maybe some other) got some other text to this event, maybe a church council ended in agrement of a new dogma or something like that.

I'm not aware they had a problem with the several popes known to have fathered children, some while in office. But let us know if your reseach finds differently.

Wow, you sure get fast feedback on this forum!

Research!? Who do you think I am? I just enjoy playing the game and maybe I projected 21st century ideas of how the pope is supposed to behave onto the wrong age, sorry about that then. Although was the son of a pope an heir to the throne and would the people not only accept it but actually celebrate it like stability +1 would suggest?

This really is no big issue I just wondered if it was something that was overlooked but it would appear not. Thanks for the clarification.

Well then shouldn't there be an event that gets a -1stab hit when the pope dies

And for all the other monarchs?
Anyway, AFAIK there isn't a trigger newruler=yes, so one event would need to be made for every monarch dying.

Well this is "the Pope" you know holy man wasn't the reaction like in our days like all people traveling to rome t mourn the death of Johannes Paulus II, wasn't the reaction the same back in those days

Even though, i don't think a -1 stability hit is justified every time a new pope gets elected.
