When is a save not a save...

Very frustrating experience twice today, no idea of the cause.

For some reason, though the game shows no sign of erratic behaviour, I lose the ability to save games. The 'SAVING GAME' thing shows momentarily but it's clear no large file has been saved. Save files appear in that folder, but they're duds - empty. Autosave doesn't fire either.

The first time this happened, it righted itself after a while. The second time, just now, the ability was completely lost and I lost the game when it crashed as I went into Explorer to try and find the problem. That's one game I can't face returning to, the last proper save was a generation ago

You weren't out of disk space, were you?

You weren't out of disk space, were you? I had the same problem, but it cleared up when I deleted some old files and cleared some disk space. The non-save is not there, though, unfortunately
I've found the game eats disk space in general- the save files are much larger than EU save files, and I have to go through and delete old save files periodically during my game.

Embarrassingly enough, that's exactly what it was... I keep Autosave on now.
