Not able to change resolution

No matter what values are set in the settings.cfg file the game displays itself in 1024x768 only. I am running AoD on Acer Aspire 5820tg (Windows 7, ATI HD5470) and would like to have it in 1366x768.

I've got the game from gamersgate. Tried 1.0 and 1.07 versions with the same effect. Anybody ever experienced a similar issue?

Out of curiosity: does your graphics card or your tft support this resolution?

Of course, that's the native resolution of my computer. Besides none of the supported resolutions can be chosen - I tried all possibilities but the game always switches to 1024x768.

There's also the issue that the game runs with 16bit colours ...

That's true, but I would expect that more people (with Win7) would have similar issues.. I wonder if what makes my case special is that my laptop has two GPUs: one high performance and the other it switches to to save the power. On the other hand - I tried both of them with the same effect.

I do not know what actually happened but after trying Windowed Mode, changing resolutions few times, running launcher as administrator (which by the way failed because in this mode it was looking for settings.cfg in another, completely unrelated folder) I can suddenly play the game in 1366x768 full screen!

Furstbischof, thanks for trying to help me. I at least registered the game along with several other paradox games I somehow never considered to register

Sounds like you installed AoD inside the c:\program files folder. Better use a folder outside this UAC-protected folder as the virtual storage "feature" may cause all kinds of problems - as you seem to have experienced.
