Hey, I'm a long time HoI player, just not much of a "forum" person, and I was wondering if someone could give me some advice. Because I really am not sure what to do about this one.
It works like this. I will be playing a scenario (the specific scenario and country do not seem to matter), and as I am often subjected to outside interruption, I will save my game often. This works just fine. Where it gets really interesting is when I load my game later. On the surface nothing appears to be wrong until I select a province and attempt to improve it; usually I am attempting to build AA guns. Now if the province is empty of said AA guns, I can improve up to the maximum of "10" that is allowed in the game. However, if there are existing AA guns in the province, I can only improve up to "9". It does this with all provinces; not just mine.
Now sometime in the past I used the editor and looked at my saved game to see what could possibly be going on. I found that in provinces with existing fortifications or AA batteries, the game had saved it with a value of "#.001"; it would essentially add 0.001 to the existing value during the saving process. The one exception are provinces with a value of "0" or provinces with existing values of "10" or that are being built up to a value of "10". For some reason ".001" is not added to these.
The solution I have now is to open the save file, go to my controlled provinces, and erase the ".001" on the end of the fort/AA values. When I take over a new set of provinces, I save the game and exit, go into the editor, remove all the ".001" values in my territories, and reload the game anew. I have to do this every single time I load my game and can get just a little bit clunky in some cases.
So I suppose the questions are these:
Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Has anyone else reported it or do I need to do that?
Is there already an existing solution?
I would like to extend my thanks to the forum for any help they can give me on the manner.
Respekt
