Hi folks,

just tried EU on a Toshiba Satellite Notebokk. It runs NT 4, SP 5, Direct X 7. PIII 500 with 128 MB RAM.

The game installs properly, the patch (1.07) the same). When I start the game everything seems fine first - the videos get displayed as they should.

But after that - in a screen telling me that something is initializing, a green bar is moving forward - the game suudenly crahes and sends me back to the Desktop.

Does anyone have an idea how I may get the game going? I have another game (AoW) installed that needs Direct X and this one runs smoothly.

Thanks for any help

Thorsten

I believe that SP6 is needed in order for EU to run.

I dont have NT and have even less idea what SP6 (or even 5) is but am sure it is needed. :)

1) Get patch 1.10, the latest
2) As Uglyduck said, latest Service pack for NT.
3) Try the latest video and sound drivers if they are available.
4) Get direct X 8.0 (not sure if it's 8.0 or 8.1, but the latest version)

Thnaks for the hints first folks.

SP6a applied. Latest sound- and video-drivers as well. Same as before. A hint may be that a glimpse at the init before crahing indicates that the Audio-Driver may be the problem.

Is that solved by the "No sound" start option with EU 1.10? To be more precise - does the ns option prevent the initialization attempt for the audio driver? If not it won´t help much, I fear. Otherwise I will try with the 1.10 patch.

Re: Re: NT4 SP5 on Toshiba Notebook - game crashes

Thanks to all, especially the people with helpful hints from this and other threads and the programmers of EU:

Applying patch 1.10 seems to work wonders regarding the audio problems. EU runs now without problems.

Skipped the Tutorial yesterday and went into my first game :).
