No, I only think of being steamrolled by the Fatimids/Ajjubids or whoever ruled Egypt at the time ;)

I also think that it could bring many posibilities for every player who would like to restore catholicism or maybe just some kind of christianity in Egypt. If someone will fight in a game with muslims it would be nice to open second front in the south of islamic Egypt:)

Well guys, you know its not going to happen so why waste your preciously bodily fluids on this?

Maybe you're right, but maybe there will be some updates, patches, addons in the future or ... maybe I'm just stupid :D

The map simply doesn't go far enough south to add in Nubia/Axum/Ethiopia. You'll have to be content with the 'Letter from Prestor John' event :D

"I also think that it could bring many posibilities for every player who would like to restore catholicism...in Egypt."

The only form of Christianity Egypt ever knew during its long and winding history was Orthodoxy. Implementing Catholicism in Egypt is like watching television on honeymoon: inadequate.

Actually, I think it would be quite realistic to implement Catholicism in Egypt if Crusaders from western Europe are able to establish a state there. There was only really a history of Orthodoxy in Syria and Judea, but when the Crusaders established states there, those states were officially Catholic. Why would it be any different in Egypt?

It's simple really...Egypt is more or less the birthplace of Orthodoxy. I don't believe Rome will ever be a centre of Orthodox spirituality.

What does Rome have to do with this? All I'm saying is that if crusaders managed to create a crusader state in Egypt, that state's religion would *offically* be Catholicism. I'm not saying the people would convert en masse to Catholicism - some would be converted, most others wouldn't. Why would it be any different than in Syria and Judea?

Maybe I'm wrong but christianity in Egypt didn't start in XI century when it divided. It is silly to talk about orthodoxy in VII century when Egypt was invided by Arabs. There was no schism in christianity at this time.

First Ecumenical Council of the CATHOLIC CHURCH, was held in 325. The choice of Nicaea was favourable to the assembling of a large number of bishops. It was easily accessible to the bishops of nearly all the provinces, but especially to those of Asia, Syria, Palestine, EGYPT, Greece, and Thrace. SO I MEAN THAT EGYPT WAS CATHOLIC PROVINCE OF IMPERIUM ROMANUM IN THIS TIME;)
THERE WAS NO ORTHODOX CHURCH IN EGYPT THEN

You're confused by the fact that the Orthodox and Catholic churches segragated from each other later on, during the 1054 Schism.

Nonetheless, today, Christians in Egypt are Orthodox Copts. (only a few remaining, given the fact that they are murderered, tortured and maimed by the Mohammedans on a daily basis).

re El Chupacabra

So I wrote RESTORE catholicism in Egypt in my CK game. There was catholic church in Egypt, long long time ago... ;)

Sorry, no Catholics in Egypt...which was a province of Byzantium before the Great Schism, so an Eastern interpretation of the Holy Scripture was the main theological current.

Actually, the way I understand it is in the regions of Syria, Judea, and Egypt (even while still in the Byzantine Empire) differed from both Rome and Constantinople in their view on religion. Didn't those areas follow the monophysite teachings, which were basically disavowed by both the Eastern and Western churches?

In 1950 1/6th of the Egyptian population was Coptic. The number was larger, but there was some immigration to Greece and elsewhere. The number is much smaller now, like 10% or lower.

Yep. Both the Syrian and the Egyptian church were Monophysites. They broke with the Orthodox curch after the Council of Chalcedon in 451...
