Hello!

As of the latest update, when you place objects in planning mode it won't show, only when you have walls and objects at the same place.
Due to this, I tried reinstalling Prison Architect which didn't go well.

When reinstalling PA the download stopped and I tried to resume it but it didn't work, it said that it had missing file privileges.
I have tried restarting Steam, checking if I had steam and prisonarchitect.exe whitelisted which I had, closing any Steam and PA tasks in task manager but nothing works.

Please help!

I am having the same issue. The only thing I can plan right now are walls. I can't plan doors, objects, or pathways, and just like you said, plans for those things only show if you draw a wall plan on top of them. This is extremely frustrating because I never build anything without planning it out first.

Agreeing with the above and I submitted a support ticket describing the issue. Copy-pasted here below per the initial request of the support tech.
Since today's PA update, most of the planning tools are broken. Putting down the planned walls seems to work ok. Planned objects and pathways do not place at all. Planned doors sometimes place, but if/when they do, they blink and appear and reappear. Looking through the Steam discussions on Prison Architect, there are many people with this problem. Please try to fix soon. I just got back into PA after a year or two away and was looking forward to playing again.

In Windows Defender Ransomware, enable Controlled Folder Access if disabled, then add steam.exe and PrisonArchitect64.exe to the Apps Allowed Through list there.

If that doesn't help, check out the first 2 ideas here:

If none of that helps we'll probably have to do a clean reinstall of Steam and game, let me know.
Deleting the igfxEM using task manager worked!
Finally I can play PA again.

Planning of paths and objects is broken, prisoners are unloaded to "Deliveries" and a fully enclosed yard is only recognized, once I force all doors shut for some time.

I also cannot use the planning tools except the wall planning tool.
I have tried various trouble shooting methods including removing all mods and creating new prisons.

Thanks

Thank you all, I have now lodged a bug report on this and included this thread in it.

I'll escalate it via Paradox to the developers immediately.

Sorry for that problem!

Ive just discovered a workaround, so it will sort of work. Put a wall plan around your prison then you might be able to use object planer indoors. Unfortunately, this does not work for outside bits. if that makes sense.

this worked for me

Being a developer myself it is absolutely unclear to me, how there has not been a hotfix out for the weekend, at least for the planning issues.
I have checked PA and it seems like the problem was mostly fixed in the new update. The only small thing that bugs me out is when you place object and pathway planning, it won't erase until you place another planning.
