I believe they did say exactly that in the live stream.

I understand that people are disappointed about this livestream though, the 2 guys obviously didn't know how to play and they make the game look boring. Note how they always have a lot of spare points, they could have called many more units. They also didn't removed the "unit scaling" option that makes models and explosions look bigger when zoomed-out, thus the "cartoony" aspect of bombs etc. And there is no napalm, but incendiary bombs.
Why do people always complain about people not playing super-competetively in livestreams?

That was the first footage of the game. Against an easy AI. Just 40 minutes. And they obviously didn't play "smart" on purpose. And working with games doesn't exactly mean you are good at playing them as well. You will always look like a noob to the competitive elite players no matter what.

I agree he should have played against medium or hard AI, that would have been a better first impression.

This streams are for entertainment and to slowly show more and more. If they started with a 4 hour 10 vs. 10 developer multiplayer battle, what could they possibly show in the next weeks and months?

Its not about playing competitively, I never said that. Its just about giving a good image of the game. I really enjoyed the beta, I think its going to be a great game, and it makes me sad to read a lot of negative feedback here and on the reddit, just because the guys on the stream didn't know how to play. People complain about the cartoony look of bombs and explosions, yet it can be disabled in options. They complain about the lack of action, but the players had like 500 reserve points in the end of the game... They also could have explained the mechanics better, a lot of them are made to improve some of wargame's flaws.

If thats your point I can agree. Remember they are not from Eugen, they are the game and streaming producer at Paradox and probably didn't play the game for longer than some did in the few days of beta. That may well be a fault in advertising to advanced players.

Just wait a week, if they stream with the "real" devs on Thrusday, Friday and Saturday you will have enough to see.

And please mind all, that that was a very early Beta build, a thing that wasn't stressed enough during the stream. There is no need for torches and pitchforks at this stage as a lot of things might change.

Wait, wait, wait... I recall them going on about some extra streams, are they going to be on Twitch though?

He said he is going with them to London. What would the streaming producer do there if not producing streams for Twitch, right?

Can't look at the exact phrasing at the moment but I understood it as "There will be a Steel Division stream every Wednesday from now on and additionally we stream next week from Thursday to Saturday from EGX in London".

I think that every division should have limited pool of trucks (20-30) and be used for transport of troops, artilery and supplies. So after troops/art/supplies are unloaded, trucks should go outside map and wait for new order.
In this way the logistics could be simulated.

how bout the at gun tractors?

Wait, so everything can be to scale if you want it to be? Oh thank god. My biggest issue with the stream has just been resolved.

Also, Please please please allow a graphic option that changed the frontline to just a simple red and blue line, no need for all the shading.

Kettenkrad would be fun. Was there an allied American equivalent (forgot about the universal carrier for Commonwealth)?

sorry I meant we need to keep the gun tractors on the field to be able to reposition the at guns

UCs were used as gun tractors by the brits, but the US army mostly used trucks (specialized or not) and halftracks (ditto) as gun tractors.

Interesting to hear about the scaling options. Makes me wonder what other surprising options we'll get!

For the record Peter knows how to play just fine, and the idea that we'd play "properly" on the gameplay reveal is just silly and I think you know that. The idea is to show off the game and explain the mechanics to those that have not played the game before. Which is going to be pretty much everyone. It's also important to note that we're not trying to explain the game assuming people have played Eugen's previous games. That would be equally confusing for those that haven't.

With that said, if it was anything you felt was explained poorly please let me know, which the caveat that the stream is aimed at players that know nothing Eugen's previous games or have been in the beta.

M4 Tractor was used extensively in Normandy not really a light kettenkrad more like a cross between a Universial carrier and a M113.
M4-High-Speed-Tractor-1.jpg

There was also a vehicle used in the pacific im not sure if it was used in Western front but it was a vehicle about the same size as the kettenkrad but it litterally ws 4 wheels an engine and a frame with a bed on it and steering coloum ive seen it in footage but have no idea what its called to find its exact model.

Sorry didn't see this thread; I was in total disappointment about the game.
Fast forwarded most of the stream.

The first gameplay footage was a huge disaster for me and lost interest 100%
This is not a rant or anything but I don't think that "map-hack" border is going to work on an RTS game.

Good luck with the game. I hope we get to see another wargame without any hacks in future. Please don't put all your eggs in one basket with this game!
Its not map hack cause without recon you still don't know if its just one infantry squad holding the front at some place or a whole bunch of tanks preparing for an assault. Also the recon squads and vehicles supposedly don't alter the frontline in any way so you can still make ambushes behind the enemy lines with them.
