So I've got over 1000 colonists now. I'm in the "end game" phase where I'm just maintaining my colony. I've been seeing, occasionally, odd deaths. When they're reported, I look at the colonist and I see nothing wrong. (e.g. Sanity 100. Comfort 95. Moral 67. But health 0.)

The last entries under health are:
"Well rested +10"
"Well rested +10"

The last entries under morale are:
"Living in luxury +5 (Comfort)"
"One with the universe +5 (Sanity)"
"Struggling to survive -10 (Health)"

Huh? How could a colonist be "struggling to survive" with tons of food, comfort, services, etc.?? Oh, and these are usually youths, not seniors.

Has anyone else noticed these?

Hey! During an electrical dust storm, can a lightning strike right at the entrance/exit of a passageway KILL a colonist right there??
I think I just saw that happen! That would totally explain these odd deaths.

EDIT: Yep, that's what's happening. I just saw it happen in front of me.

I can certainly agree that if a colonist is outside at the time of the strike, that would make sense. But I'm a bit perplexed as to how a colonist can get hit/killed while inside a dome (or passage). And in fact, I've seen a dome take a direct lightning hit and nothing happened to the nearby colonists. So that why I couldn't believe it at first. I guess there's some vulnerability for colonists that are on the passage connection platforms when lightning hits?

I got an event where one colonist snapped, went into a drone hub, and set it to self-destruct. I had a choice to save the drone hub or save the man, and I chose the hub. It was in the early game, necessary repairs were underway, and if I lost that hub then all my other colonists would probably have died.

Since this was the first colonist death, I got an event eulogizing this guy who almost doomed us all. It felt disingenuous, like I was lying by giving a speech about how heroic this man was. I know he was probably insane, and couldn't control or comprehend his actions, but at the end of the day he almost killed us all.

Oh man. That sounds horrible. Though I would have made the same choice, drone hubs are more important. I nearly lost all my founders in the evaluation stage due to sabotage. Scanned a planetary anomaly and discovered some ruins. Some other rival colony wasn't happy and I lost ten colonists.
