I wonder what will happen now to the denziens of this forum. I have sadly lost my EU1 disc too.

EU3 was announced whilst I was waiting for EU2 to arrive at my doorstep. How's THAT for timing?

Sorry, Morph, you disappeared for a while and I saw that your little graphic thingy was the NC icon (laying on its side), and made the jump that you had already gradiated from HS and jumped into college life. I really gotta stop assuming stuff like that!

I'll hush now, and hope this stays off the OT. If not - eh. ;)
I can see where you might have gotten that impression--I adopted that avatar during Carolina's run to the National Championships last year. If I end up anywhere in NC it'll probably be at NC State  Hey, still a year and a half to forumize at will without college courseloads to handle! :p

Shame on you, bb. You have the potential to get a new EU disc, you just don't have the will ;)

Good ole Europa Universalis I, the game that got me back into history, it sure left its mark in gaming history too. This is the first game that really got me involved in forums too, anyone remember the Italy AAR that lasted for months and ballooned with posts?

The direct result of EU has me now working with Jowood on a history project for an upcoming game. If Paradox lets me, I will try to help with EU3 too.

For now my big project I am planning, thanks much in part to my experience with EU 1 AND EU2, is history servers using the NWN2 system when it comes out later this year.
Take a peek www.ramileus.com/arbeliaproject.html

Nice to see familiar names, oh and I just broke out my old EU1 disk, put it on my 7 year old computer that I used to play the game with back in 2001 and it works great. I love to hear that music again :)

You know, a good marketing move for EU3 would be to release EU1 as a downloadable "freeware" game.

Change it slightly so the end screen announces EU3 and points to the website, and let it rip.

Give it to every game magazine you can find.

Jerry, great to see you again old friend! :)

Haha Rex how are ya? How is your golfing game going?

I still remember when you took a vacation trip , i think with your school, to Venice at the very time the Italy Venice AAR was going strong.

Good stuff back then.

A freeware EU would indeed be a good idea to to raise intrest in EU III
Good idea, but the crunch is: "Will Pdox also see that way it?"

Evidently, the Swedish edition of PCGamer or some such has a free copy of EU2 in it, so why not? :)

I absolve you of your transgression. :D Good to see some old names returning for this thread: stop by the AARs, too!

Europa Universalis was the game that pulled me even more into history, kicked me into the internet and connected me with Paradox and this board. I'll love it forever :)

How dare you RE Lee! EU1 dies with me! My memories of when EU1 first came out will start a life bio NOW.
"How dare you.", he says to me.

When I originally posted my comment, back in August of '05 no less, there was practically no activity on this precious, old forum. It took the moderator 4 days to discover my post. It was only 4 weeks ago that anyone else even noticed that there was activity in the form of a sad, old dirge regarding the "forum".

I have never said anything disparaging regarding EUI in my entire life.

How dare you how dare me! :p

You should be thanking me profusely for bringing activity back to the forum instead of wagging your finger at me.

;)
:D :D :D

RELee, do you have any screenies of EU1 that you could post? It is one of only 2 paraodox games that I do not have (Diplomacy being the other), and I am interested in seeing the differences and similarities between EU1 and EU2. It would certainly bring a little more activity to this forum... ;)

Thanks, crusaderknight

There are plenty of AARs with screenies; heck, even I've figured out how to post them!

Whew!

Thanks, Pat. Helped me dodge that bullet. That don't mean I don't know how. I'm just too dog-gone lazy to do it. :eek:o ;)

Although, and Pat may correct me, but I'm not sure that you will see any difference in the screenies. The differences are mostly in the background. I could be wrong. I've only very, very recently purchased EUII myself, but I'm still wasting too much time with Vicky to figure EUII out, which means I spend my entire one hour per day of game time with Vicky. I have got to find a way to free up more time for play. :D
