After having so many problems with GMs of all types, i have decided to create my own game. No one will have to wait 30 minutes to start playing, or wait 1 full hour to play only 11 months. Also, no more rules broken without adequate punishment. This game shall be ruled with an iron fisted hand. Period. This being said, lets get down to our bussiness.

Unlike all common games where only Euros are played, Asiatic countries will be a choice in here as well. Expect them to be more playable, as edits will take place. Everyone is welcome in this game, as long as you respect the rules, and, of course, get ICQ. You can get ICQ here.

Also, if you want to play, post your 3 sugestions for the country you want to play with and your ICQ number. Also, your scenario choice, if you got any.

We use watk 3.1 + Fix, you need to download it here.
How to install it? Simple. Install eu2, and apply the latest eu2 patch, 1.09. You can get it here. Then extract watk into eu2 folder and bingo. There you go. Thanks go to our dear FAL for hosting the link to watk. ;)

The Game Master Role

  • The GMs are not your Gods. They are far from it. I once though they were. Until i caugh GMs that always did the best to benefit their own nation, cheated, or were powerless to enforce rules.
  • If you feel your nation is being cripled by the GM, complain. Afterall, we live in a democracy, where freedom of speech is allowed. However, do so civilized.
  • If you feel something that is hapening is unfair, complain as well. In the same way: civilized. The GM will take this into consideration, however, do not feel disapointed if what you said wasnt done.
  • If you want to protest against any rule, whatever your point of view is, you shall never ever insult the rule or the one that made it (the GMs). You will also have to state what is the problem of the rule you do not agree with. Whenever doing this, you will have to behave like a gentleman.
  • If someone ever made some grotesque insult, the GM will force him to apology to the one who he insulted. You may Roleplay as long as you want, but behave nicely in general.
  • The GMs will punish whoever breaks a single rule, heavily. You better print the rules, so that you dont easily forget them. Since some rules have more inpact then others, the punishment depends on the rule broken.
  • Never mix the role of a GM with the nation the same person is playing with. I have seen this, but that shall not be part of this game.
  • Like i said before, we live in a democracy, but in this game things will be run like a dictatorship, to ensure no rule is broken, and that everyone have a good time in here. That is why GMs ever exist. To keep things going smoothly and to keep order.

Hosting Policies

  • I will ask everyone to show up about 15-10 minutes earlier. By then i must have hosted to give everyone the saved game
  • Anyone showing up before the scheduled game time will receive an "on-time cookie". This will be either -1 inflation or -3 BadBoy Points. You must ask what cookie you want in the AAr thread, or you will get none, even if you showed up.
  • I will only wait a maximum of 15 minutes after the scheduled time. After that, i will click the start button, regardless of who shows up. Doesnt matter how many players there are, we will start.
  • If you didnt post anything saying you could be late, or if you couldnt play a session, you will be AIed. There will be no edits for your nation for being AIed. But if you tell us in the forum, we will ghost your nation.
  • If your nation was at war and you havent said anything, we will wait another 10 minutes, but no longer. If you dont show up, then, your country will be AIed as well. If you told us in the forum, we would have surely gotten a sub at least. But if you dont say a word, then you are neglecting your fellow players, thus disrespecting the whole team.
  • If you miss the first session for some reason, and didnt bother speaking about it, your fellow players may take your country if they want. You have been warned.

Re-Hosting Policies

  • If a nation is at war, be it against the AI or against a human nation, an imediate rehost will take place. No questions asked.
  • If a nation is not at war, rehost will take place next January.
  • However, if a player crashed right at the start of the game, or at the first days, we will rehost with the same save, so we dont waste time
  • If the GM crashes, the CO-GMs will take his place as supreme rulers, and will keep an eye for any rule breaker nation
  • If a single player CTDs more then 3 times, we will play more years (a maximum of 5). Rehost must take place in a January. However, if he is at war, we must rehost regardless of what.
  • If a player suddently CTDs and doesnt apear in ICQ, there will be no rehost, and his nation will be left ghosted. If somehow we rehost, and the player doesnt show up, he will be ghosted as well.
  • Whenever you CTD, please apear in ICQ and tell the others that you did so. Else we may think you had some computer/internet or any other kind of problem and are not able to play.
  • If the player disapeared for a time, then comes to ICQ asking for a rehost, it shall happen the next january.

War and Alliance Rules

  • There will be no more then 3 human nations in a single alliance
  • If a nation is at -3 stability, at -99 WS and is at war for more then 5 years (with the nation that got -99 WS), will be forced to peace. Note, that the nation is only forced to peace if the offer will cause a stability hit.
  • There will be a maximum of provinces taken in each war. Before 1550, only 3 provinces may be taken. Between 1550 and 1650, 5 provinces. From that time onward (1650), 7 provinces. If there is any informal alliance vs a player, these numbers will raise by +2 provinces. Note that all provinces that have more then 1000 population, and their culture is colonial, count as 0.5 provinces. Provinces with less then 1000 population, or Trading posts, count as 0.25 provinces. CoTs count as 3 provinces. These provinces rules do not apply to the AI. You may take as many provinces as you want from them. Also, Collapsing governments are allowed, even if you take more provinces then the ones allowed via a normal peace deal.
  • There will be no declarations of war against ghosted nations/AIed humans. I think this doesnt need to be said, but after seeing some smart people doing this, i have to make this a rule. Anyone breaking this will surely end banned.
  • If a player is abcent without giving a valid reason, his nation will be AIed. If his abcense continues till next week, and the player doesnt bother posting anything about it, his nation will be declared onlimits.
  • If you are forced into a vassalization via war or event, you must remain so for 15 years. You can break it sooner if your liege agrees. Or if you got an event allowing you to do so. Note that this also applies for game start. Even if you start as a vassal of the AI. Exception to this rule is Muscowy, which can break the vassalization as game starts.
  • Military Acess granted as a result of a peace treaty cannot be canceled before 20 years have passed.
  • If an AIed human nation ever declares war on your allies/vassals, or yourself, it is ok to join the war. But, never, never invade them. Just play defensively and ask for a white peace. However, depending in the situation you are in, you can always ask one GM if the AIed human nation that declared war on you, can be attacked, to force a WP.
  • A nation that is forced converted during a war, will have to remain so at least for 10 years.
  • A vassal must grant Military Acess, Trade Agreements if his liege asks so. He will not be able to declare war on his liege's allies, or vassals. Unless he is allowed to. Note that "liege's allies" are all nations currently allied with him. Informal allies do not count, only formal ones.
  • In order to declare war on a vassal which liege is human, you must attack the human country first (the liege). Note: If the vassal is being played by a human player, you may attack him, even without declaring war on the liege.

Events, Edits and AArs

  • The Spanish Bankrupcy will fire in the exact date no matter what.
  • Nations may control 3 gold mines. If they control more, they will get +1.5 inflation hit for each new gold mine. The only exception for this rule is Spain, if their bankrupcy rule is accepted.
  • Bradenburg will become Prussia in 1700 even if Prussia didnt accept or exist to become part of Bradenburg.
  • Poland will be able to keep in the latin tech group if they do not annex Lithuania via event. If they diplomatically annex Lithuania or conquer it, they will remain latin.
  • The AI will always take option A if the event leads to their anexation (and if the one that annexs them is a human).
  • If Asiatic countries are taken, some edits shall take place to make them more playable. Prime examples are China, Japan, and possibly the Timurids/Persia.
  • To get an AAr reward, you must post it 40 minutes before the game started. If you do that one single second after that time, you will not get an AAr reward no matter how much you wrote. On a side note, i encourage everyone to write one. To know more about what kind of rewards there exist, please consult the AAr thread.
  • Special edits must also take place 40 minutes before the game started as well. Special edits, as an example, can be province swaps, or money exchange, or both.
  • You may move your manufactories, as long as you were the one that built it (or got it via event), or got it from a non-human AI country. However, you got to pay 75d x the number of manufactories you got, in order to move it. You can only move manufactories if you are not at war with human players.
  • If Holland is to be played, we will vote either to have it from start or add it later in 1580 (or around that time). If its created later on, it shall have all its provinces converted to reformed, it will start with a generous amount of cash, with 20 warships and 10 transports and perhaps some DP slider moves for the time it wasnt played. It will also start with Spanish maps and technology, and will be composed of all dutch provinces, except Flandern and Brabant. This issue about Holland is open for discussion.
  • There is a culture claiming rule. If you control for 50 years 80% of the lands with a certain culture, you can claim it as your own. There is a maximum of 2 cultures, so choose wisely.
  • There is also a core claiming rule. If you control a province that shares your culture (cannot be colonial) for more then 30 years, you will adquire a core in that province. (note that the only exception to this is russia, as they can claim cores in colonial provinces as well, but only if they got a land conection to capital)
  • Regardless of what scenario is played, a colonial culture shall be added.

Exploits and Non-Exploits

The Following is allowed:

  • Breaking a truce, even when at negative stability (however, you cant break truces with your human enemies, unless your allies/vassals are attacked)
  • Sacking capitals for maps
  • Landing armies in the port of a country you are in war with, because you still have Military Access.
  • Not leaving a human alliance, despite the alliance leader asking you to do so.

The Following is not allowed:

  • There are many exploits that arent listen in here, but the GM will have full power to decide if it is an exploit or not, and if so, the player in question will be punished. Before doing anything that can be considered an "exploit", ask the GM if you can, or not.
  • Pirate spawning is completely banned. Of course, the AI still spawn them ocasionaly, but if someone sees pirates spawned in the most inapropriate times, scream.
  • Releasing one or more vassals during wartime, to hinder an enemy.
  • Force-burning of manufactories, i.e. repeated move and halt orders to an army in a province with a manufactory.
  • Trading Maps with AI or with humans before 1580.
  • MA in asia is banned if you use it for "discovering purposes", like discovering a CoT or to conquer/discover the Indian AI colonies that you may grab and colonize. If you use it to move only troops and conquer enemies far away, it is fine.
  • Converting from Catholiscism to either Counter-reformed-Catholicism or Protestantism and then switching back to Catholiscism before the Edict of Tolerance.
  • Exploiting Simultanity: Using the game engine to break a deal, that would occur simultaneously in the real word. This includes (but is not limited to) the 'sale' of something in game.
  • Declaring a 'fake' war on a country, with the aim to:
    • Use War Taxes
    • Increase the stability of the nation you declare war on.
    • Change the religion of a protestant or Counter-Reformed-Catholic nation back to Catholicism before the Edict of Tolerance.
    • Sacking Enemy Capitals for Maps, since Map Trading is not allowed before 1650 (note that sacking enemy capitals for maps is allowed, but not if it is made in a "fake war", with the permission of the nation with the maps)
  • Reading the history log of the host save

  • Movement: 2-6, average 3.3 (it is not influenced by sliders)
  • Fire: 2-4, average 3.0
  • Shock: 2-4, average 3.0
  • Siege: 1-3, average 1.0

Napoleonic Era Stats:
  • Movement: 2-6, average 5.0
  • Fire: 2-5, average 4.0
  • Shock: 2-5, average 4.0
  • Siege: 1-3, average 1.3

After 1520 (for Euros):
  • Explorers/conqs: 1-3, average 1.5
  • Life span: 9-15, average 10

After 1560 (for Asia):
  • Explorers/conqs: 1-1, average 1
  • Life span: 5-11, average 8

Note: Muscowy/Russia and the Ottoman Empire, are considered Asians, when generating Explorers/conquistadors

P.S. The rules are not set in stone yet. So, if you have any intention of joining, and do not like some rule, please speak. The time slot/Scenario are also open to discussion.

Also emans alot to me too =( I'm learning Chinese and Ive read so much about their history and culture. Like I know about Qin Huang di and can name at least 5 dynasties. I also constatnly write articles on the chinese economy/military on forums www.sinodfenceforum.com
 
If I have some time to familiarize myself with it, I could play with WATK. When does this shebang start? Anyway, my nation choice would be Denmark, Sweden, Japan (better the devil you know,) or Brandenburg. Bear in mind that I'm very new at this.

Don't know what you are insinuating here, so I'll just disregard it and iterate myself:

Strict rules for hosting are A MUST for an enjoyable and effective game. Noone likes sitting on their arse and waiting for some dork who shows up 15 minutes late without an explanation. I am happy you are going to use the rules I considered as great in Test of Skill( Now if they are your own invention, yoopdeeday! they're still great ;)). Hopefully every game will be as strict as this one and Test of Skill when I get back from my trip in November.

And once again, since our GM Sid played China for last 2 games, i wonder if he can be nice to let me play China. I respect Sid's passion of China, but it's my 50% root for godsake. I was not born there, know so little about China, so feel something missing in me. and Now i am about to find out by trying China, how could anyone prevent a man from coming back to his long lost root? :(
