Okay ill make a long story short.. I get to my computer this afternoon and i open windows XP under (USER) when it usually says my name.. weird.. I go to desktop and in my lil taskbar there says "VIRUS ALERT" (where the time is and other junk). Well i figure F this ill just go to a previous restore point. The problem lies here... When i click the start button there is no RUN icon, no programs icon, no c drive, basically NOTHING important is there when i click the start menu... Now im hopeless... Any thoughts? Any way i can restore windows before getting into windows when my computer is turning on?? Help plz.. this is my only way of advice besides calling ppl and them telling me to bring it in...

Try and run it in safe mod, press f8 under startup.

If you need to take backup before reinstalling windows, use a linux livecd, like knoppix. Then you get access to your harddrive.
