A Fallen Empire pretty close by, then. Just the Norman luck. :D

Amoeba Hunting

The fleet, after being repaired in Sol, once again set sail. This time, to the other edge of Norman space, where more amoebas were living. Again, discovered by Anthony Feldman, the space monsters in Grokkan system were blocking further investigations to whatever lies beyond. And Normans, curious as they were, were really interested in what lies beyond.

In January 2222, the Norman fleet met the amoeba in battle. Again, Norman weapons proved to be more then adequate for the tasks, but this time, the battle did not go without losses. Normans lost their very first corvette in battle.

1629492501224.png

The second battle of the Normans

Still, the path was clear.

There was one thing though. With superior sensors of the cruiser “Salvage”, the Normans did a thorough scan of the neighboring systems and found out that the path was also a dead end.

1629492189940.png

First corvette lost and nearby systems charted. Dead end.

Then, the fleet did not return to Sol. Instead, it was directed to space castle of Durabbius for repairs. For the next target was down in the South, near Djunn territories. While the rest of the fleet licked their wounds, additional corvette was built back home and sent through a long journey to join the rest of the fleet.

1629492664020.png

Norman fleet, visiting Durabbius station

Tammpere system, home of yet another amoeba infestation, was next. This time, Normans tried something different- sending the “Salvage” in first, getting the attention of the amoeba and their flagella. Then, as the first salvos were sent the space monster way, the corvettes joined the fun, adding their firepower to the cruiser’s.

1629492816285.png

"Salvage", taking point

It kind of worked. “Salvage” took more damage, but this is a cruiser after all. Better shielded and armored then a corvette swam. Especially “Salvage”, where the ship’s defenses were lightyears ahead of Norman technology. It worked as a well- amoeba did send some shots towards the corvettes, sure. But the cruiser took a bulk of the fire and in December 2224, the space became a bit safer for Normans again. One less infestation.

1629492847495.png

It seems it worked

Expansion and Exploration

In November 2221, New Constantinople had enough people to be called a colony no longer, but a full-fledged fledgling planet. Bohemond de Hauteville, the Space King of New Constantinople, was overjoyed. He had done a stellar job. There were cities and villages on every continent. There was good infrastructure. The population was booming. And in addition, there were plenty of fiefs. During these years, Bohemond had created 4 Kingdoms, 21 Duchies and countless counties and baronies. Making some Hautevilles very happy to finally get a fief of their own. In addition, New Constantinople had already their first working industries and was well on her way of becoming the first major industrial center of the Empire.

1629492538770.png

Look, New Constantinople, all grown up.

Followed by another gem of a planet added to the Empire a month later. It was different this time, for the colonists did not emerge to a virgin planet, untouched by human or alien hands. No, they emerged in the middle of decaying ruins. Some of them, with a risk of crumbling. Some of them, good enough to be picked apart for resources. And a precious few of them, still habitable. It was still eerie. The shadows of the long forgotten past hung around the colonists, reminding the colonists every day that they are stepping on graves of their predecessors. Haunting place, the Knossos was. Still, it was good enough of a place to live and settle and Normans were afraid of no ghosts.

From what was likely the capital of an unforgotten Empire to ruins covering the entire planet- and in the future- to become crown jewels of the Norman Roman Empire. It can be said that Knossos has seen and will see more action then most planets do see in their entire existence.

In October 2223, Knossos had gone through the initial phase and was ready to accept new colonists. The planet was a mess indeed, with most of her energy production in shambles. Reactor pits flooded, solar panels shattered. Mining tunnels were filled with rubble, and there were a couple of suspiciously large holes on the surface. Still, there was some capacity for mining and the research potential of these ruins was quite great. Rest of the issues can be fixed with time and money.

1629492698637.png

Knossos. Lots of ruins. Even more potential.

Meanwhile, in Ilestara system, explorers found something completely different- a planet-sized supercomputer. Working on, well, something. It was unclear what. The Normans decided to keep it going. Whatever it was, it seemed important enough. And perhaps, when the thing finally finishes doing what it is doing, the Normans will be there to benefit.

1629492602573.png

Something is computing something. It keeps on computing.

In October 2222, another site was found in Hixar system. Someone had managed to cut up Hixar I. Why would one try to cut a planet and how and all these were valid questions. There were no answers to these questions. Yet. And while the questions were deemed to be really interesting, they were also deemed a bit of low priority.

1629492633456.png

Next archeology site

April 2224 saw the continuation of Discovery traditions. Rightfully so- Normans had uncovered just a small fraction of the wonders of space and with the adoption of Discovery traditions, the explorers could boldly go 35% faster.

1629492727661.png

Now going boldly 35% faster

New Palermo had gotten enough people to be called a colony in January 2225. The construction of the new Planetary Administration was right underway. Just four years after New Constantinople, but the planet was kind of different. It already had wild storms, plus a mysterious, still totally untouched portal. Making it a perfect place for vast research complexes and kind of strange titles, like Joan de Hauteville, Baroness of the Strange Portal and Count Hubert de Hauteville of the Research Island Complex and so on.

1629492871587.png

New Palermo, following suit

Nuranka was another key system. Who controls it gains access to a valuable hyperlane connecting to another spiral. The contenders- Nation of Valrus and the Norman Roman Empire. Again, Adelin stopped development of all other directions, for Normans wanted that system. And once again, the Normans won. In January 2225, Norman outpost was built around the star. Followed by an upgrade to the space castle, but since the Valrus were pacifists, this might have been an overkill.

The borders of the Empire started stretching though.

1629492962221.png

Another race for key systems won and the access to the next spiral is Norman

Science Gets Done

In January 2222, the Norman engineers finally perfected the idea of robots. Versatile, man-made machines that can be assigned to any simple tasks, like mining or farming or working as clerks. Since the population of Normans was growing steadily, but not fast enough to fill out all the worlds, the robots were thought as a perfect way to aid Normans in their quest for the galaxy.

August 2223 saw finally improvement to power generation of Norman ships. New fusion reactor was ample enough to power all the advanced systems. Norman had been delaying upgrades thus far because while new shiny lasers and faster engines were fun, the increased power draw wasn’t. Now, with the power question solver, the new version of Tancred-class corvettes were equipped with two new fancy blue lasers and in addition, ion engines. Making it kick more ass and get to asskicking faster.

1629492567585.png

Robots and powerplants. Good things!

When afterburners were discovered in May 2224, these were slapped on the Tancred-class as well, making the ship travel even faster, both in combat and out of it.

This is a bit of a quiet time. Housecleaning, colonies developing, explorers exploring, constructions constructing. Nothing much to write home about. Though I must say, things are going quite well.

A Relic World is always quite the find!

And so the Normans meet a Scion... hopefully they don’t try to bring the Normans into the fold any time soon.

Oh yes. Though I get Rubicator event more often then I don't, to be fair.
And there is little threat of that, I think. After all, there are about two empires as a buffer and for scions, they seem to be nice.

"Scion" must be from an DLC I haven't got.

I think this is an origin that came with the Federations.

Finally, something resembling friendly. The Qwe’Pulci are a good addition to the galactic map, and their unknown boss should make for a good foe... eventually.

Eventually, yes. Hopefully, not too soon :D

A Fallen Empire pretty close by, then. Just the Norman luck. :D

I personally consider Fallen Empire nearby pretty lucky. Then, I don't have to conquer half the galaxy to make them fall a bit more permanently :D

First Quarter

Exploration

It was 25 years ago when the Normans first entered the hyperspace and jumped to Sirius. With that, the Normans broke the shackles of the Solar system and found out that there is an entire universe, waiting for them. As they had suspected. Well, waiting for them is kind of an incorrect term as well. More like there is an entire universe to be explored, expanded, exploited and finally, exterminated. Or like there was an entire harmless, unsuspecting universe the Normans unleashed themselves upon.

Normans did not waste much time. Within a quarter of the century, they managed to expand way beyond the borders of the Sol. Total of 5 explorers were making sure that all the mysteries of the universe will be uncovered, as fast as possible.

Lin de Hauteville was exploring another spiral in the east, at the present 12 jumps from Earth, after Normans had successfully built an outpost in the Nuranka system, blocking Valrus from the very same path. The passage westwards seemed like a dead end, but the east seemed promising.

1629630100287.png

Lin de Hauteville, exploring the lands beyond Nuranka

Anthony Feldman was responsible for exploring the western expanse, trying to determine if there are any passages in the west- and if the Rukkari are really as isolated as they would seem or would the Normans would be facing murderous rocks from another direction.

1629630128868.png

Anthony Feldman, trying to find an answer to the most pressing question- are Rukkari really bottled in?

Serril de Hauteville had almost finished exploring his pocket of the galaxy. Blocked by Pliff-Plaff, the religious rocks and Djunns, the murderous space mushrooms, it was clear that there would be no further paths for expansion. Not yet.

As for other explorers, Maud de Hauteville was currently charting the systems in closed pocket beyond Grokkan and Liang Zhuge was doing cleanup duty in a pocket between Vinjim and Nuranka.

1629630197744.png

Serril, almost finished with his pocked of the galaxy

Exploration was well-covered by Normans.

Expansion and Diplomacy

So was expansion. In these 25 years, Normans had expanded pretty well. Seeing as they started with just Sol and are now commanding 33 systems. The shape of the Empire was quite stretched though and the lack of influence put a severe stopgap on the expansion.

The Normans had adopted a system where one tries to extend their borders as far as possible and only when the limit of how far one can go hits, they try to fill the gaps. Limit being mostly dead end or aliens, to be dead in the future.

1629630072177.png

The Galaxy as the Normans know it

Speaking of aliens, Normans had indeed found out that they are not alone in the galaxy. In fact, the galaxy is quite populated. Like for instance, with religious rocks, murderous rocks and rocks that just want to be left alone. Or in other words, Pliff-Plaff, Rukkari and Varlus. Two first ones were already rivals of Normans. The amount of uncooperative lithoids around the Norman space was still quite amazing.

Then, there were Quopinjaxi. An arthropod species, who were not ruled by a King or a President or something like. No, the entire Empire was a megacorporation, ruled by shareholders. Where your value was not determined by your worth or your birth or something, but instead the amount of shares you own. They were also quite like Normans. Perhaps too much, for instead of profitable trade relations, the relations deteriorated quickly, with Quopinjaxi declaring Normans as their rivals and Normans following suit soon after.

Then, there were murderous space mushrooms, or the Djunn Freeholders. Shroom pirates living in three systems, next to Norman lands. Fortunately they weren’t very aggressive pirates, for their power was way beyond the Norman power.

Finally, the Qwe’Pulci were friendly religious mammans who liked aliens and who got along well with the Empire. First kind of a friendly species the Normans had encountered. At least, ones trying to communicate, even though half of the communication reminded Normans of Jehova’s witnesses.

Five Empires, one nest of depravity and piracy. Not bad for a quarter of a century. In addition, the Normans had discovered two species in nearby systems that were not quite sapient yet, but were no longer animals as well. Pre-sapient, they were called. And also, Fex’Klangans, the iron age civilization.

1629630002837.png

Normans, the not most popular ones in the galaxy

1629630031410.png

Yes, not the most popular ones around

Colonization and Conquests

During the first quarter, Normans expanded. Conveniently nearby were two continental worlds, now known as New Constantinople and New Palermo. In addition, a few systems away, the Normans stumbled upon a prize unlike any other- a world as perfect as can be. Now, called Avalon and safely within the Norman borders. To make matters more interesting, the Normans discovered yet another unique world. A planet that has once been covered in cities and now is covered in ruins. Now, called Knossos and also a fresh colony of the Empire.

Both New Constantinople and New Palermo were already a bit developed, exceeding the magical number of 10 pops. First one looking to become an industrial center, the second aiming to be the science center.

1629630272982.png

One industrial center and one soon-to-be tech world

As for Knossos and Avalon, they were both still struggling, so it was a bit unclear what direction they are going to take. Though Knossos was most likely to become a science center as well. After all, the nice ruins, full of decayed corpses of aliens and wonderful things to discover. As for Avalon, this will be more of what the situation demands.

1629630305265.png

Avalon and Knossos, still growing up

Then, there is Granada. Quarter of the century ago, it was an iron age world, oblivious to the fact that there is life along the stars. Until the Normans came and gave then a quick lesson on intergalactic relations. Now, the Fex’Klangans are still struggling to be part of the Empire, but they are getting better at it. Soon, they will get over the fact of being quite nicely conquered and will truly become productive members of the Empire.

1629630228165.png

Fex'Klangas, coming to terms with becoming conquered

Of course, there is the Earth. Home of the human race, and still a main motor of the expansion. The population is larger than that of the colonies combined, the economic might unsurpassed and well, it was still home for all the humans, seat of the Empress and all that. Now, with additional research lab, grand holo-theatres for Hautevilles to have their tourneys and first gene clinics, making the population grow.

1629630333576.png

Earth, still home to majority of the population and main center for everything in the Empire

The potential for expansion was not so bad as well. There was this nice continental world in the Andalucia system. Once, the colony ship planned there was directed to Avalon. The next ship planned there was directed to Knossos. Perhaps the third time's the charm. In addition, there are three tropical worlds in range. Bit too humid and jungly for the Normans to feel truly comfortable in, but at least usually equipped with plentiful predatory wildlife to make it more interesting.

1629630388198.png

There is still good potential all around

Economy

Normans wasted no time in exploiting the resources of the galaxy. Currently, 33 systems, some richers, some poorer, add to the everyday wealth of the Empire. The output of minerals for example had grown several times, mostly thanks to the mining stations built all over the Norman territory. Might seem amazing, but there is a downside for it- the expansion of the Empire is really mineral-hungry and while the output has increased, the demand for it has grown even more. Needed for buildings, needed to produce consumer goods and alloys. There was a constant shortage of these.

1629630408572.png

Minerals. Getting more, but still too little

As for energy, the Normans started with a huge surplus. Earth had plenty of energy-creating structures and the Sol system was rich in energy as well. Over the time, the Normans had gathered a healthy surplus of the resource, reaching over 10k. As with minerals, the demand rose with every single building, mining station, outpost, ship and everything else built and the surplus was dwindling slowly. Some cause of concern, but there is still plenty of time before this will become critical.

1629630427831.png

Positive energy, good supplies, but the surplus is dwindling

Food was, well, food. Notorious for not being able to grow or harvested in space, but there was plenty of surplus grown on planets, so nothing much to talk about.

Alloys were mostly produced back on Earth. Over time, the production had increased a bit, but at the moment, it was enough to fuel the expansion- building outposts and space castles and maintaining a fleet. Looking at the future, there needed to be more of this. Much more. But for now, this was adequate.

1629630456194.png

Healthy supply, though more would be nice

Consumer goods were a different story. Needed by pretty much everything civilian, including research and entertainment and of course, the growing population, the output had become severely lower then the input. The Earth alone could not supply things needed and the New Constantinople hadn’t really picked up the pace. Yet. The slow supply of goods was dwindling at a record pace. Also meaning that the Normans had to stop building colony ships for a while.

1629630481026.png

This is an issue

The administrative system of Earth was, well, made for Earth. Built for keeping one planet in check. Then, one planet and the outlying Solar system, but still, the bureaucratic system of Empire was not designed to handle multiple colonies, several star systems and constant influx or problems, questions, proposals and changes. In short, the administration of the Empire was struggling to cope. Making everything take longer or be more expensive then it should be. Then, again, this was expected.

1629630495922.png

The sprawl is getting out of hand

Conclusion

Overall though, Normans were doing pretty great. 67 pops across 6 worlds. 14% of them aliens. The Norman Roman Empire was growing.

1629630545962.png

Overall, things are not bad at all

As for Adelin, she was already 65 years old. Of course, 65 based on space-age was a bit different then 65 back in the Medieval times, but she was still feeling her age.

She had picked her daughter, Matilda, as the future Empress. Currently, Space Queen of Avalon, she will have plenty of experience in her pocket when the time comes for her to take the throne. Already, she had shown great leadership skills, working with both the people and the powerful.

1629630565957.png

The Empire, the Empress and the Heir

Things were looking quite great for the Norman Roman Empire. Though they were still but a small speck in the galaxy.

1629631102054.png

On a galactic scale, Normans are still just a speck.

I was thinking of doing quarter of century overviews, to give a bigger picture of the state of the Empire and the surrounding lands.
Of course, I forgot to save, so in reality, you have Norman Roman Empire in early 2226, but that's a year or two...

Normans are growing at a steady pace though. And exploration is going quite well as well. Seems like there is still some time when the expansion needs to be switched from exploration to conquest.

But then again in the mean time they're uberstrong and an immovable object. ;)

Kind of a mixed blessing, yes. But still, I'd say in the long time, it is more convenient when they're nearby, not on the other edge of the galaxy. Easier containment.

Careful of those Botnics or they will take over your empire!!!

I'm sure every Norman will cherish the challenge of kicking them machines back to their servitude :D

Simple stuff, but it all equals a stronger NRE. Got to say too, I do love 'Baroness of the Strange Portal' as a title.

There should be plenty like that. Baron of a Lonesome Mining Post over Gaee I and such. :D
But yes, progress in always nice.

Well done good Sir!

Could we get a zoomed out shot of the galaxy, and perhaps using the various map modes, so we get pretty colors?

My, thank you! :)
And here you go, some zoomed out screenshots of map modes included.

Promise of a Smaller Galaxy

Dancing in the Street

It was in October 2224 when the first occurrences appeared. Some people at Avalon perhaps took the words of Bowie and Jagger a bit too much to heart and started dancing in the streets. It was a local oddity at best. Few nutjobs, dancing all day and night, until they near collapsed of exhaustion. Humans did what humans do- blamed the diabolical tunes of Bowie and Jagger for it and called for a ban of the song. It provided an opportunity for the eldery to complain about how youth is going down the drain and how music was much better in their days and people were happily killing other people, not doing silly stuff like dancing. All normal thus far.

1630236991996.png

Avalon, plagued not only by VLUUR

Of course, it did not stop there. Far from it. More and more people took up dancing, until the streets of the small colony were filled with people dancing, disrupting traffic, not working and dancing like pros. Even people who had never danced before, never took interest in it, took up the dancing and their moves were like magic.

In the end of January 2225, Matilda de Hauteville, Space Queen of Avalon, saw no other solution then to inform her mother and ask for help. Empress Adelin, recognizing the gravity of the situation, put together a team to investigate the thing that was now known as the “Dancing Plague”. Meanwhile, as teams in both Avalon and Earth started their work, the dancing became even more widespread. Including of course, some of the people in the Avalon team and in addition, one Space Queen. Incidentally, she had killer moves.

1630237019111.png

Time to call mother

It was solved in September. It turned out it was not the diabolical tunes of musicians, luring helpless people to move their legs and bodies that caused the mass dancing, much to the disappointment of people who had already picked their pitchforks and torches from the store. Instead, the culprit was local vegetation, a beautiful flower, that released small amounts of gas that caused the human nervous system to go bananas. In addition, the few Fex’Klangans in Avalon seemed to experience the same sort of reaction, so it was cross-species.

Sometimes, once you identify a threat, it stops being a threat. Instead, it becomes a curiosity. Because during the process of identifying it, you find a way to neutralize it. This was the case with the Dancing Plague on Avalon. Scientists developed another gas to neutralize the plant’s gas. And it was just one plant, so it could be weeded out. Where’s the fun in that though? Matilda decided that instead, there will be areas in Avalon that will be natural discos- where the plants will be cultivated and where there will be dancing and joy and fun and beautiful flowers. In addition, plans were drawn for the industrial cultivation of the flowers and harvesting of these gases, but this was for the future.

1630237095132.png

It is time to party like it's 2225!

From 2225 onwards, Avalon was known as the Dancing Planet.

Jaazians

The yellow-white dwarf known as Soejima had only three planets. One of them, a gas giant. Another, furthest away from the star, was a molten world. Surprisingly, the closest world to the star showed promise. Though it’s moon was also molen, with constant lava flows erupting to the surface, Soejima I itself seemed to consist mostly of oceans. Liang Zhuge and his crew, spotting a potential, went in for a further study. After all, yet another habitable planet, nicely close to Earth.

1630236969490.png

Soejimina system

Upon closer examination, they found out that the Normans were not the first ones. There was again a flourishing civilization, concentrated on the islands of the planet. Several maritime empires were vying for control of sea lanes. And the sailors manning the ships were birds. Large, bulky birds that felt more at home in the rigging then in the sky, but birds nevertheless. They were also as quarrelsome as humans, though definitely more docile and also, as adaptive as humans.

Unbeknownst to the marine birds below, the Normans at the orbit cheered at the sight. Sooner then later, the poor Jaazians, as they called themselves, will be facing a nasty surprise descending upon them from the sky.

1630237043091.png

Nautical birds and their home

Promise of a Smaller Galaxy

Maud de Hauteville gazed at the initial scans with disbelief in her eyes.

“The hell is that?” she exclaimed.

That being a colossal structure in the outer edge of Ximpok system. 10 jumps from Earth, in the pocket freshly cleared from amoeba infestation. Or rather, two structures, similar, in a diametrical position next to each other. Dwarfing the Norman science vehicle.

“We don’t know,” was the reply. Quite a common reply these days, actually.

“Is it dead?” asked Maud

“No energy readings whatsoever,” was the reply.

“Let’s take a closer look,” said Maud.

And that they did.

“A colossal structure in the middle of nowhere. Old. Millions of years old. Surprisingly intact though. It had lost its power eons ago. The systems inside seem to be damaged. We have no clue who built if- but we suspect why,” said Maud

“Well, don’t keep me in suspense,” replied the Empress over FTL link. “Why?”

“This seems to be a gateway of sorts,” replied the explorer.

“Gateway to where?” Adelin’s eyebrows rose.

“To another gateway like this. Or perhaps even to several gateways like this, allowing near-instant travel.”

“Regardless of distances?” Adelin wondered.

“Regardless of distances,” Maud confirmed.

“It that were true,” mused the Empress. “Then that would change everything... Everything we know about interstellar travel...”

Both kept a minute of silence, thinking about it. Both knew what the issue was- the borders of the Norman Roman Empire had been stretching for quite a bit. And with it, the time needed to travel. Making say a fleet redeployment to some hotspot a process lasting years. And unless you happen to have several fleets, leaving other points of the Empire woefully undefended. The Normans did not have several fleets.

“Any chance of activating it?” the Empress asked then.

Maud just shrugged. “We don’t understand even the basics of how this works... Perhaps in the future, when we know more of how space works?”

Adelin sighed. “This could be a solution to our problems, you know. A gateway network, allowing instant travel between systems. Making the galaxy so much smaller...”

“A fine dream, sire,” Maud replied. “Perhaps one day....”

1630237181993.png

First gateway

This was confirmed in September 2228, when Lin de Hauteville entered Fulbadan system, on the other side of Norman territory, 14 jumps from Earth. There, she discovered a similar structure, similarly deactivated and lifeless. Though Ximpok-Fulbadan highway was... well, mostly useless, the implications that this is possible made the Normans giddy with excitement. Perhaps one day, no colony is more then a jump away from Earth...

1630237240610.png

The second one, half a year later

Exploration and Expansion

Maud de Hauteville found a planet in the Oijars system. Fourth planet from the dual suns. Once, it had been a flourishing world. Now though, because the locals were a bit trigger happy with the buttons for nuclear weapons, this planet was no longer inhabitable. A toxic world, void of all life and with radiation levels that fry you the second you try to land. A cautionary tale of giving some idiots too powerful weapons. Now, what was once a beautiful world, full of life, is good enough for a Norman science outpost only, where the catastrophe can be studied and research made on the effects of global thermonuclear war.

1630237129347.png

Once, a beautiful world. Now, nothing but wasteland

In October 2227, Lin de Hauteville discovered an atomic clock in the Ler Zumon system. Something with extreme precision and something that is doing a countdown. Current date- 42 years and 3 days away. It was decided to leave it be- for the Normans were curious too. What will happen in 42 years?

1630237210851.png

I wonder what this will bring us?

Science Gets Done

Normans discovered improved deflectors in July 2226. Resulting in, well, improved deflection. Bit better survivability is always nice to have. Followed by advances in farming in August 2227, making the food production process more streamlined. Allowing to keep even less people or robots employed in the food production process then before. And to think, few centuries ago, most of the population of Earth were farmers... As for engineering- improved mining facilities in April 2228, making both mining bases and miners more efficient.

All good things

Finally, some gateways. I was getting worried. Well, neither of them has much of strategic importance then being fortunate enough to find a gateway near your home system, but at least there is hope I can build them one day.
And heh, dancing plague. :D
I guess someone in Paradox was listening to this while coming up with an idea:

Nice concept of a periodic review of the state of the empire’s development on a whole!

Thanks. I keep on doing that then. Mostly because I keep ignoring the big picture quite often.

Glad to have a look over just how far the NRE has come in 25 years. Onwards and upwards.

Yeah, now spanning 6 worlds and 33 systems. Not bad for upstart Normans. :)

Thanks! And yes, the neighbors are not nice. But then again, neither are the Normans. So it balances out. :D

Loving this, only complaint, MORE!!!

I'm still learning stuff to even be able to play, but it is great to be able to read someone else's exploits. I'm particularly interested in the interactions of the Normans and the two pre-space civilizations they have encountered.

Please, kind Sir, continue your compelling tales. Thanks, and, as always, well done.

Perhaps one day, no colony is more then a jump away from Earth...
Which also means, any enemy accessing a gate is one jump away…
