Could it be possible to put the AI mechanisms in to a library/DLL whose code would be open? That is quite radical, but that would allow modders to make changes in the code. And that would help patching the game much quicker (and make it worth before most people buy it)...

I mean with the HOI text files you can really make some good job, if you manage to figure out the formulas... Which is not obvious, especially when dealing with lots of parameters about fighting and not knowing what is their real weight in the final computation.

Another question: do beta testers (in general, but it does also CK...) have access to the source code or are they just ... cough ... beta testing?

A final question: I forgot if there was a unix version of HOI/EU2? Will there be one for CK?

I can't say anything about the first one, but I can answer this:
- Testers have no code.
- There have not been any unix versions to my knowledge.

I support the idea of giving modders more options to work with regarding the AI. Giving the modding community more freedom with altering the AI will only improve the game in the long run. My suggestion to Paradox would be to do as much as possible to allow this to happen. :)
