Please check out the switch_allegiance event command. During CORE development I ran several tests with 1.02, 1.03 and 1.04 but in all versions the command only works with land units (using -3), no air or naval unit ever switched sides.
The event command also does not pick random divisions but whole corps.
Code:
command = { type = switch_allegiance which = -2 where = SPA } # random naval units switch sides
was intended to switch SPR naval units to SPA once SPR is close to loosing SCW (both countries not set up as having civil war)
I know this command was broken at some time during Armageddon development but I thought it was fixed with 1.3B2. Broken again in AoD ?

It would really be nice if the following event commands could get additonal options to influence specific division types (land/air/naval) instead of randomly picked units of all types:
damage_division
disorg_division
remove_divison

Nat. Spain -- German Problem

In my recent USA game Germany had taken out Repub. Spain which had joined Allies but Nat. Spain did not join the Axis. So -- Germany occupies most of Spain until USA invades mid 1943.

Needed is something to make Nat. Spain join Axis after Repub. Spain joins Allies or else Germany will sit in Spain for years without giving any territory back to Nat. Spain.

I have never seen this before though. I think it was because Germany was able to enter and attack Repub. Spain without going thru Nat. Spain territory which was limited to Burgos, Oviedo, and LaCoruna.

Naval AI stupid as ever

Germay 1936 campaign
ok, British Naval AI couldn't stop Sealion in 1940, Britain got crashed in about 10 days... A navy about 8 times bigger than my own didn't guard the channel well enough to stopp a massive invasion. Maybe it would help to priorize port bombing for british airforce and stronger fleets controlling the channel after France falls.

But now worse happened:
US failed in 1944 to interferre with a giant invasion builtup in newfoundland. I needed about 3 to 4 weeks to transfer about 50 divisions there...not one big naval battle. No US Fleets trying to stop me. All the big fleets sit in ports from new york, norfolk and miami doing nothing...
Even worse, the US isn't reacting to the gathering storm, there are maybe 30 divs in eastern US, about 15 of them garrisons. As soon as I get a foothold in Canada, they are doomed. :(

I don't know how, but I guess the US should be a bit more wary of Germany as soon as Bitter Peace fires (or Britain is occupied). An Ai routine could fortify and strenghten the coasts and Naval AI should focus on the Atlantic.

I guess, it would be far more difficult then to get them down.

I'm not sure if it's bug or not..

At the beginning of Ger game there is a possibility to UPGRADE Graf Spee in production queue (and lose gearing bonus + added time for retooling) although it's already the most modern heavy cruiser that you're able to build.

I believe that is because you would be upgrading the attachments.

mod stacking penalty

Could you please add a stacking penalty line to the db/misc file? The default setting would be 2 since the stacking penalty in vanilla AoD is derived from the square root of the units in the stack. I would like to be able to mod the misc file to make the stacking penalty based on the cube root. In other words, I would like to be able to change the "2" to a "3".

With current settings, the stacking penalty of three divisions (-42%) is higher than attacking an urban area, or a mountain, or during a blizzrd, or crossing a river, or making an amphibious assault, etc. In my opinion, the current stacking penalty (with the square root) is too high relative to the terrain/weather impact.

Also, the statement that with the square root, increasing the number of unit in a stack always increases combat power is false. This only works if all the units are of the same type. For example, if 8 brigaded tank divisions are attacking a province and then they are joined by one unbrigaded infantry division, then the attackers' combat power will probably decline.

The stacking penalty is a fantastic concept and a great improvement in AoD compared to HOI2-DD-Armageddon. I just feel that the current penalty settings are a bit too high, especially considering the scale of the AoD map and the size of the provinces.

Steam purchase

this is my first post on the forum, looking for help. I purchased AOD through Steam, and the latest patch they have is 1.03 which is done automatically. AOD is frustratingly slow, so to the point, a real pain in the ass to play. Any suggestions for dumb dumbs like me to speed up the game, as I am unable to download patches 1.04 or beta patches as Steam will not allow me to?

I just checked it, still works for me.

When I run Arsenal.exe with v1.04RC4, I am unable to check the "windowed mode" box . The "windowed mode" text is displayed in red color. It says that I need 16 bit color. However, all the resolution choices say 16 bit color and I can select anything on the list.

You must change your desktop color depth to 16-bit.

I thought I saw a post about the game crashing on loading a new game, but I can't find it now. Seems like I have the same problem. And since I cannot find the post, the problem is prolly limited.. so if any of you are having the same problem please PM me.

Thanks..

Ohh btw I am running Vista and no - game is not installed on the systemdrive at all.

I have the same problem : game crashes after loading or starting a game. I did not find a way to resolve this issue.

I am running on XP and I have the steam version of the game. I got a ATI R4850 graphic card. Please let me know if you need to know somthing else.

I managed to solve it by changing my resolution, please try that - your milage might vary..

So the capitulation events for DEN, HOL, etc. give Germany their prov's but they have the same revolt risk as POL? Also, I noticed Memel has a 9% revolt risk, even though it's a territorial claim, yet the Danzig corridor is all 0%? I'm assuming that we can no longer reduce the revolt risk by 1% as in ARMA

It's a known problem with 1.03 and has been corrected in 1.04. Apparently the finished 1.04 patch is with Paradox for final approval so it should be available anytime

When will RC5 or 1.04release be out?

btw. could you give us an update, what are the main topics you are working on now?:)

a bit more "official" info would be much apprechiated
