How do you open .xls files? I'm having trouble reading the province improvement files.

If you want to edit them, it is better to open them with Wordpad or Notepad.
And they aren't .xsl files btw, but .csv-files.

1. How do you get soldiers to depart from your best port? When I try to send them somewhere (Alexandria) they just go to whichever port is closest to there, not which one is cheapest.
2. Do Grand Palace bonuses stack if you have several?
3. How long does it take for Smallpox to vanish? (annoyingly, it's in my capital)
4. After siege equipment, which advancements are the best for one's military?

1. First move your troops to the province with the best port, then move them over sea.
2. Grand Palaces give bonuses on a provincial level and you can only have one palace in a province so the bonuses don't stack.
3. It is random
4. No idea really, just pick one that you like. It is not that important for the game.
