I'm using the latest DV 2.1 Beta patch and the game itself runs great. My problem is that I can't save my game preference options. This is on the same screen where you select which game to load. You set options like how often to auto-save and how aggressive your opponents should be. I've been playing the default settings because any change I make in there disappears next time I look at it. I know it's not just a display thing because I keep trying to autosave annually, and it never does.

You can change the settings before starting a new game.

After you have started a game, I don't think you can change some of the settings, like difficult level and ai aggressiveness.

I think you can open the save with notepad and manually change some settings.

Once I have changed my settings the game remembers them, no matter if I start a save-game or a new scenario. The settings stay the same.

Untill I change them under options and than those settings are my default ones

seezero, are you on Vista? If so, make sure you have not installed the game in Program Files. In Windows Vista this directly is protected, and the game cannot write to it. Each time you change options it will write the changed options to the virtual store (which you can find by clicking 'compatibility files' within the CK directory under ProgFiles), but the original options file is left behind unchanged, and this is what CK reads.

Uninstall and reinstall outside of Program Files, such as in C:\Games\, to prevent this problem.
