Anybody have information about the functionality of the amazing tool-set do we have volunteers working on the fixes?
I have tried several ways to get this tool to work but as shown [attached screen]. It always seems to crash when the user attempts to click each button as oriented or randomly. Either approach eventually crashes the Game. Does anyone know how to make this beautiful tool work?.

Again, guessing this is CSL modding, so over we go.

If you have mods in this area then this is the right forum for this question/problem. If you do not and this is core game functionality, then I'm wrong and this needs to be in the game's support forum.

I've only ever played this game, I've never edited or modded anything so I'm not familiar with those functions.

I was under the impression "terrain.part" is not the cause or OSMap importer rather two separate functionalities. OSMap importer shows a script error and terrain.party failed to export "heightmap" but works. Terrain, party issues have been growing from able to display: satellite, terrain, and topo down to just map view. All those functionalities gone or deliberately removed.
The question is what other alternatives the MOD community has to resolve this continuous pain in the ...trying to MOD?. We need heightmaps at least...to get thing rolling real-time.

All those functionalities gone or deliberately removed.

As per 6 August 2019, the data source used for Terrain.Party has been permanently shut down by the USGS (it was their own server). More here: https://lpdaac.usgs.gov/news/global-data-explorer-gdex-has-been-retired/

Unless the creator links Terrain.Party to a new data source, it will never work again.

People who wish to create heightmaps manually can use https://tangrams.github.io/heightmapper instead. I've never used OSMap Importer (I prefer to make my maps by hand), however, if that draws its heightmaps directly from Terrain.Party, it can be considered dead.

Woo!. that explain everything really. I appreciate your kindness sharing the info. I am new here learning the ropes. The other link you provided above, how to save height map there?. No menu buttons or perhaps I am not seeing?.

To save a heighmap on Tangram, zoom in to the area you want to export, turn off the map lines and labels(if you turned them on before), then click the Export option:

Hmm!. OK. that's a clickable "save-As" cool. Thanks. I tried it out and I am not sure this is a good quality for my project because I will have to seriously fix the terrain to do anything with it as shown[attached]. USGS and their greed[if you like] they want to be paid or else and the funny thing they don't need the money. They are not the only ones out there who care less about sharing their server for public usage. Humanity is so drunk unfortunately with "money syndrome" so much so soon we will not be able to access the basics MOD resources we enjoy now. View attachment 516870

Registering for an Earthdata account to get access to their new service is free. You don't even need to be a US citizen.

However, you need to submit a pull request, and you get a raw data format, not an image, so you need to import it into a mapping program, and those are generally not free. (The data provided to Terrain.Party was in the same format, the site just did all the work for you.)

If you think that's bad, I make my maps by hand, and they import like this: :D

Hmm, interesting comment "don't even need to be a US citizen" really?... I am impressed...will pass on the feedback :)
At any rate, very impressive screenshots you got there...make your maps by hand Hmm?...more power to you.

In both UDK & UE4, I use the followings for my heightmaps I can do the same here:
1) DEM File here: http://dwtkns.com/srtm/
2) "Microderm" FREE! App.here: https://www.usna.edu/Users/oceano/pguth/website/microdem/microdem.htm
OR
Download Heighmaps direct based on location:

Well, I'm from the Netherlands and I registered an Earthdata account to use with their service. They even let me submit a pull request. For a US government department, that's exceptionally rare.

Haha, these are far, far from my best screenshots. But thank you.

The few times I need to take a look at real world terrain, I use 3DEM and a combination of the ASTER and SMRT4.1 data from Earthdata. Does Microderm support manual control over the individual height colour values? (It's my main reason for using 3DEM.)

3DEM is for what exactly? MicroDEM has functionalities some I shown in these screenshots. The key is to install the software correctly otherwise you will find out the hard way. The Netherlands! Hmm. cool. I am from different places actually :). England/Nigeria/USA...the list goes on. see?. Ya!.

3DEM is a tool used to convert and render raw map height data into a workable heightmap. From the looks of it it does pretty much the same thing, best part is that it lets you manually select the colour value for each elevation level. I got 3DEM from my coworkers in the Urban Planning department, although I have access to arcGIS if I want.

I'm an IT specialist and application manager, lol, installing software isn't an issue. ;)

Hmm. So you are saying 3DEM is a licensed or free toolset since it was given to you by coworker care to share?. Access to ArcGIS of course as an IT specialist and application manager.
Software installation piece of cake to you I suppose. We on the otherhand have to learn the hard way as "Noobs"...lol:)

3DEM used to be a paid software, but the creator made it freeware after he ended the development and took the site offline in 2009. Sadly the code is too messy for the creator to release it into the public domain as open source, but it can be used for non-commercial use.

3DEM Yup!. checked it out it's OK but I think microDEM is more powerful. more functionalities or features and updates 2019. Thanks for your kindness and the feedback. I am still debating as to the best app. for a cleaner heightmap and that's a challenge now that terrain.party is gone. Hmm.
