This will be an attempted under-the-infamy-limit world conquest using the Ottomans in the mod Death and Taxes. I've done a few modifications to the mod itself, as playing without them would make a world conquest impossible.
D&T changed the holy war casus belli to a 2BB per province, which I've changed back to 1, as double the infamy for almost the entire world would be too much BB to burn away. D&T also changed war taxes to give a 30% or something maintenance cost reduction and -0.35 magistrates for 0.25 WE, which I've changed back to the standard 50% taxes for 0.1 WE.

There are quite a few other changes that will make a WC hard to achieve. Firstly, there are no hordes any more. The former hordes are now khanates which act like tribes. Secondly, the borders in Siberia have changed. This means that even if the Russians stay at peace with the Golden Horde they can still snake their way to the pacific. Thirdly, China and India have about 5x as many provinces. This, combined with a weak Timurids in the 1356 start means that Delhi usually expands quite a bit in India, driving up BB cost even further.

I can play until the early 20th century though, so I have that going for me. I haven't done any excessive amounts of math (it's the holidays god damn it) so I'm not sure if I'll succeed, but I'll give it a try.

You know that you get an infamy decrease from prestige (-0.25 at 100), rev/counterrev is now at gov 42 and you got a lot more time ? With your changes this is going to be too easy I think.

I'm not sure. It adds 250 new provinces. Combine that with the removal of the hordes and there's at least 300 more BB to burn.

Chapter One - Humble Beginnings

mbHPKkJ.png

This is my first mission. Not too bad, but I want to expand a bit in Anatolia first.

GAmiH5Z.png

The Ottoman military.

ViNMTqZ.png

Maintaining all those regiments is a big strain on my economy. I have to mint quite a bit until I'm able to annex more land to raise my force limits.

e8j8xVU.png

I get right to it. I had my three diplomats declare war on Armenia, Eretnids and Mentese. I want to snag Armenia before the Mamluks do.

upc1Ikf.png

My king produces an heir. Not the best, but it could be worse.

ujeStn6.png

Unfortunately, The Hospitaller Knights of St. John takes Mugla. I'll get it eventually, but it'll have to wait since England is now the defender of the catholic faith.

ygFs6A3.png

Peace with Saruhan, who came to the aid of the Eretnids. Sieges are proceeding in the background.

74xS7gL.png

I get a new diplomat and declare war on Candar.

oHk4uSh.png

The Eretnids are annexed.

FlS0fhf.png

Same with Armenia.

yTHF6OR

And Candar. I must've forgotten to take a screenshot of me annexing Mentese, but they're gone too.

Z5NoPeU.png

War is declared on Byzantium. Bosnia, Bulgaria and Morea come to their defense.

um83gfV.png

This is rather unfortunate. This brings the war score for annexation too high. The Byzantines are involved in two separate wars with Venice and Genoa though, so I wait and hope one of them takes Achea.

N4R7d5G.png

I declare on Serbia in the meantime.

kXWeDtm.png

I accept. They'll help bash rebels in Anatolia while I'm fighting in the Balkans, and they occasionally build quite a large fleet of galleys.

LPlHDL7.png

Byzantium signs peace with both Italian republics and when planning on taking Kozani and Edirne and then taking the rest with holy war, I realize that the reconquest casus belli gives a war score reduction when annexing. It's four infamy for one province, but it gets the BB burn going.

J7ZFpHI.png

And then my king dies. I'll take as much as I can from Serbia and then build up my economy.

qdemMUj.png

Peace with Serbia.

XUCuR19.png

Selim succeeds to the throne. His administrative prowess will usher a new era of peace and prosperity for the Turkish people!

EdOJi7P.png

Oops.

I'll be following this for sure. World conquest with this Ottoman start is definitely harder. You have to be busy early or you'll fall behind quickly. At least you are allied with The Mamluks. They are the last nation you want to fight against while you solidify your power.

Looks like you got your hands full. Do be careful about minor nations east of you as well since they could bring on a huge web of guarantees as well. I find one of the toughest task for the Ottomans is to take down colonial powers (England, Castille and Portugal). England and Portugal are usually allied (tough navy to take down). In quite a few of my games, Castille and France are allied which isn't good news either. Good luck!

Good luck, Gnorf. Subbed for this one. Looks like its easy so far, until Europe comes beating at your door.

If it's not too much work, I hope you can tell us about the alliances for the major European nations. I see that Castille and England are allied. How about France, Austria, Bohemia, Hungary and Poland? Has Poland attacked Lithuania and forced a personal union yet? I've had a couple of games where Hungary, Bohemia and Poland were allied with Poland leading personal union with Lithuania. So I'm curious about the situation in your game.

Aragon is allied to France and Portugal and has Trinacria (orange) in a PU and is guaranteed by Castille.

France is allied to Aragon and Burgundy, IIRC.

Castille is allied to England and Portugal while guaranteeing Aragon.

Portugal is allied to England, Castille and France, and guaranteed by Aragon.

England is the defender of faith.

That's the Iberian situation, which is where I'm prone to heading soon. Poland does not have a union with Lithuania, since they're still pagan!

France and Burgundy being allied always make interesting results in the game. If you weren't trying to get world conquest, it would be fun to see how the situation in Europe will unfold. I'm curious if you will become the target of the crusade. There's a chance that Portugal will declare a holy war and bring in all their buddies. If that happens, you will be delayed in your world conquest by quite a bit.

As for Poland, their first mission is usually either form a union with Lithuania through a war or conquer/vassalise Mazovia. If Poland wins against Lithuania and forms the union, then Lithuania will automatically become Catholic. By the way, how about the alliance situation regarding Bohemia, Austria and Hungary? They might be a pain if you want to expand further into Balkans.

Is Trinacria Sicily? How come it has another name in this mod?

To become Sicily, Naples or Trinacria must control basically all of Two Sicilies. For those playing Naples or Trinacria, you can form Sicily first before you unite all of Italy and become Italy.

Bohemia is allied to Bavaria and Hesse, Austria is allied to Bavaria, Milan and Venice, Hungary is allied to Croatia, Brandenburg and Lithuania.

Pretty much only Hungary and Lithuania who might become troublesome.

A Gnorf AAR. As the Ottomans? Ew!! I will follow nonetheless!!

What's that supposed to mean?!

Chapter 2 - Balkan Business

LQM8ZcN.png

Serbia accepts a white peace. I need them off my back, the English are landing a lot more troops than I thought they would. (At one point they had 70k troops in Anatolia!)

ziRUf70.png

Tech increase! Since I'm an empire I don't need Divine Supremacy to get the holy war casus belli on everyone, so I go with military drill.

qtvoCQA.png

Oops. I'm getting slightly overrun. I need to clear up the situation in Asia Minor and focus more on Greece.

NbkDJzT.png

Perhaps this will turn things around.

ZM8Vane.png

Later on I accept peace with the English. I had annexed Epirus who were catholic and taken my cores from the Knights so I had nothing more to gain from them.

BM74l3h.png

Unfortunately Bulgaria was too big to annex. I guarantee them for now.

ylUlBIM.png

Roman Expansion is a nice casus belli. It gives 1 infamy per province in the Greece and Turkey regions.

u81UctP.png

Karaman is annexed.

PMCATuR.png

In a few months Dulkadir suffers the same fate.

zMxMLY9.png

Nearly got the fort. Can you imagine him trying to get the morale up? "Come on guys! We can hold this!" :p

bsOPeeQ.png

Greece shall be mine! Yes. Balkans = Greece. Deal with it.

iVHndZS.png

Buh-bye Bulgaria.

OtkJWDm.png

Damn it, was hoping for a pagan Lithuania. I had them snake through Circassia, Azerbaijan and Persia all the way to India in my Byzantine game. So much red on the religion map.

TD8Iw4O.png

Serbia is annexed. Greek patriots are in Trinacrias greek possession, so I wait a while for the provinces to defect.

7MUp8Y2.png

Unfortunately only one of the provinces defected. Oh well. War!

g2ucJjI.png

Perhaps this war will be a challenge.

6p1bfEr.png

Wallachia got war leader after Austria...

jsGg6An.png

The rapid expansion of the Ottoman navy has some economic effects.

lIEwIQ4.png

The Ottoman realm after the annexation of Morea.

XqLURWu.png

The navies of the world. I can't find Castille on that map, you know what that means!? Also now would be a good time to read the first letter of each row of text.
