I stumbled across this:

Managed to fix an out of sync save in multiplayer CK3.
We were getting out of sync in constantly every ~7 days. It said random_count all the time. After about 10 reloads wanted to something about it so i just guessed what the problem was.

So i did this:
I downloaded pdx_unlimiter. https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...toolbox-all-in-one-the-pdx-unlimiter.1464176/

With this tool i could open the save with the "Edit save"-tool inside pdx_unlimiter.
From there i could traverse (click on list to traverse) in the tree to
"Root / Gamestate / Played Character".
There you get a list of all played characters. Here you should look for the player that the game says is the problem. You have to look inside every player. In my case it was player 0 so the path became:
"Root / Gamestate / Played Character / Played Character[0]"
At this level of the save i changed the players name to something else and saved my changes in a new save file. When tested the new save everything suddenly worked and we could continue our multiplayer game.

I have no idea if this is a universal solution but it worked for us.
I hope it helps someone so thats why i'm sharing this.

They didn't fix anything. Just more worthless DLC's with no fix. We desync almost immediately.
Yeah it sucks! But, we've had good luck just ignoring the OOS window. Move it to the side, made sure it unpauses for everyone, and go forward. Once a save file gets past the 10 day window, it usually doesn't add more OOS errors. To be sure, you can then save and the new file likely won't OOS.

Still have some desync issues, but not as bad as before the latest patch. Issues that desync'd us this time really have absolutely no bearing on the game such as items in character memory list and UI stuff. Honestly think it silly to have the entire UI checked constantly or even at all but I digress lol. I'd much rather miss out on a line in a character's memory window, UI differences, etc. than have these desyncs.

Any previous version save I have, MP or SP, are CTD now, but whatever.

Can't play mp with friends since the t&t dlc came out. Players position on the way to the event seemed to be different on each player's save.
If the party member gets a crash while someone is on the way to event he can NEVER connect, so you need to look up to closest save/autosave when there are no travelling events.
So its almost 3 month of waiting to fix mp. Devs, you can share your thoughts with us, we are here to help you provide the best of the game could be.

Break the silence

Had a similar issue come up today. Game went fine for about 2 hours, then a stutter for both players before a desync relating to LivingCharacters_CharacterMemories. Subsequent attempts generated an OOS with TravelPlans. Neither player involved had used the travel system at any point playing up until that point.

Maybe adding logs or info would be good for the developers. We finally started a new round on saturday after it was unplayable for months and we played for nearly 12 hours straight without a single issue.
Nice that it works for some people. I was just bumping this thread for visibility, I'm sure it has enough logs and description of the issue. Didn't even see a paradox employee acknowledge the issue.

They did acknowledge, last 2 patches fixed many out of sync issues (we werent able to play before but are able to play now, started a new save tho). Thats why its important to add logs again IMO (as many issues have been fixed, but it seems like some are still left).

Had another desync a couple of days ago after my friend and I decided to try playing again to see if it was any better. I forgot to save the game right after the desync, but I do have the entire OOS event folder still. It was again a desync on character_memories. I've attached the OOS event folder here in case it helps.

EDIT: to clarify, we expected this desync to happen so we both verified our games before starting this one. The one thing we did do that was out of the ordinary was continue playing after the desync message like others have recommended to do in the community. Hopefully it doesn't cause any issues with the logs.

From what I can tell the OOS folder has the saves in it. It seems like the best way is to have everyone's OOS folder in one attachment. (They all have different debug infos)

edit: Looking again, the savegame_oos_machineidN.oos file appears to be in a different format than the .ck3 saves, so probably best to include both if able

Are you still playing online then? Or are you 2 offline with the same save?
Bc normally after an OOS, you are both offline and if you continue you have two separate saves then

We're still online. If anyone pauses, it pauses for everyone. It may not be true for all OOS, but on the persistent ones that always happen on the same day it seems to work. Each case must be checked, but it is a possible fix for many.
