So, are these Dev Diaries going to be starting before the end of January or will they be happening in February to early March?

I'm hyped for when this DLC comes to console. I love playing a tyrannical ruler in my runs (For various reasons) but, when this DLC comes out, I can't wait to "Legally" vassalize my friends without any downsides.

i wanna read some
Sure.

1. I am the one with the big stick. Their navy is part of my navy. Having large fleets is fun but, i tend to stay under my fleet cap so, my vassals effectively make up roughly 10-75% of my navy, depending on how many vassals I have.
2. Free pops/Free real estate. Just look at all that land I can use for more vassals. I tend to annex/integrate my vassals only to make even smaller vassals out of them, of course, I steal about 25-50% of their pops before releasing.
3. I hate you, now die. I get bored from time to time. "I have this colossus, now what? Oh yeah. Let's set him free, then wage unholy war. Galactic community can't hurt me." Why would I blow my own planets up when I clearly got people dying to be my subjects?
4. TAXES!!! Personally, I hate/love tributaries, problem is they don't join my wars, so I break them apart into smaller vassals and designate some to be tributaries. Once Overlord comes out, this is going to be fun and heavily tax the crap out of the AI.
5. My ethics demand all bow before my great king. Militarist, Authoritarian, and Xenophobe. My Authority is clearly Imperial (Mainly cause I'm lazy and I use a lot of Edicts). Long live King Charles "The Greatest Plan" XVIII
6. I'm lazy and don't wanna manage that big of a empire myself. I can do it, just I don't wanna. Besides, they're all loyal to the crown, right?

[Insert funny revolt skit]

we don't know

Paradox isn't in charge of the Console Port, Tantalus is

when they get close to finishing the port, they will contact Paradox and then they will notify us

sure. could be wrong, but i imagine tantalus don’t do their own marketing for the port. plus, it seems a bit confusing to run marketing campaigns for products with (essentially) the same name at the same time. have they rolled out console stuff at the same time as pc stuff before…?

not that I'm aware of
usually there's a few weeks to several months in-between a release of something on pc compared to console

I think one of the closest I remember seeing was the release of Nemesis on PC and the release of Synthetic Dawn on Console

PC Nemesis came out 4/15/21, Console Synthetic Dawn came out 5/12/21 [a little less than 1 month of difference]

and no Tantalus doesn't do the marketing for the port, they just let Paradox know when they'll roughly be done with the port so Paradox can send the word out

right, so seems like they do the sensible thing and avoid confusion by having some distance between marketing pushes.

i assume paradox handles the marketing (in collaboration with a few outside agencies), so it won’t simply be a case of tantalus saying “we’re ready” and paradox immediately pushing it out; rather they would fit it into their larger schedule of release/marketing.

it’s just speculation, but i suspect we’ll be hearing about overlord not too long after first contact has had its marketing push, release, and a wee while to settle.

the thing is we don't know exactly when either will release

First Contact just got announced...but Overlord on Console we at least have a rough timeline

it is slated for Early 2023

now while I can't say for sure if Tantalus follows the same quarterly schedule that all other game companies do, but we can use that as a reference point

this means the earliest we can see Overlord for Console is sometime in February, the latest is April [as that is Q1]

Hopefully April is the latest. This DLC is one me and my friends are excited for due to all the benefits that come from it
