I was recently playing the the US in the Age of Revolution scenario and I noticed that all the provinces in the New World were occupied by pagans. Now the US is supposed to be Reformed but none of provinces are even Christian? Is this suppose to be this way or is it a bug?
The population has to be lower than 5000 to convert to your state religion. if the pop is that low, then sending a colonist will convert the natives. If you want to colonize a terrritory with more than 5000, you can, they wont convert. or you can have an army attanck the natives, gettting the pop under 5000, then sending in a colonist. Be careful not to wipe out the entire native pop, or it wont matter about religion, and you'll lose valuble tax paying citizens once you hit city size and incorporate the natives.

Yes they will. Colonising a province *always* converts the natives to your state religion. It only doesn't work on existing cities with a population over 5000. Although - as BiB said - if you have a city over 5000, you can't send the damn settler in the first place
I know what you mean. I'm playing that scenario now too. At first I was thinking it was a mistake, all the USA provinces having the pagan religion. (I mean, 15,000 some-odd people in Manhatton, & in 1770 something (I think that's when it starts ) they're all pagans???!!! Doesn't seem right. I was thinking about editing the scenario to change them to reformed - at least the bigger provinces - , but then I thought maybe it was a play balance thing to encourage seeking a quick end to the war with England. (or maybe it just represents a Eurocentric view of the US at that time! ) But I got lazy & left it alone. Doesn't affect it too much anyway I don't think.
How about it guys, is it a mistake, for play balance, or ?????
It's because there's only one province.csv file and in that every province has its set religion. But that only applies for 1492 really in which America is undiscovered and all pagan. U can offset this in the .inc file for the scenario though it will be some work.
or if you want make it easy...just use event 7 till the required provs all convert ..sicne they all national provs this event will change them to reformed

Makes perfect sense when ya put it that way. & yes, having looked at it, it's much too ugly to fiddle w/ provice.csv. Much easier to change it in the save game eug file.
