I have run into a significant problem with the Paradox Launcher. When I am starting it up, there will be an error message as displayed by the name of this thread. It also produces this line:

{"messageId":"game.loadingLauncherGameSettingsFailed}

I have tried to do the method of wholly uninstalling every Paradox related file and folder and re-installing, to no avail. Looking at my antivirus, there is no way that it is interfering with the launcher.

It happened today, when I moved the Documents folder, which was located at my now-defunct OneDrive folder, into the system. I am assuming that by doing that, I must have messed something up with the launcher's ability to find the path to the Paradox Interactive folder.

Deleting the Paradox Interactive folder made no difference. To top it off, it does not even get created when I start up a game.

So, is there any tips on how to solve this predicament that I am in?

How did you do that? If you just move it yourself that would account for the problem.

Right click on Documents in the left column of File Explorer, just under This PC here. Go to properties, location - what does it say in there?

Well, I've noticed that it still says that it is on the OneDrive folder, despite it not actually being there. Seems like OneDrive has done something borked again.

Actually I suspect you did not move the Documents folder in the proper way, which is using that menu there. Just dragging it from one place to another does not update Windows' internal settings accordingly!

You can use Restore Default there for that, or the Move button.

Good luck!

After trying that method, I get an error that says "Can't move the folder because there is a folder in the same location that can't be redirected". Apparently, moving my files the way I did before made this method unsuccessful.

I see, you may need qualified Windows help at this point. I guess you could try renaming the "older in the same location " referred to there, which I guess is C:/users/<UserName>/Documents/ ?

Tried renaming the Documents folder (the one not on OneDrive, specifically), it immediately changed back to its original name.

I'm going to contact Microsoft. I hope they can solve my problem.

After re-installing OneDrive, the launcher finally works as intended. However, the Paradox Interactive folder is created in Documents inside the OneDrive folder, not the system's Documents folder. I'm gonna ask Microsoft how to solve this.

Well done!
