I'm having an issue since the hotfix came out.

I have 1.7.2 installed, but when I click on Play, it just greys out and does nothing.

The SOI video in the lower left keeps looping. The Changelog block in the middle is interactable. But it just hangs and the game doesn't seem to boot.

I have gone into the game files and clicked on the executable directly. It will run, but no DLC will load, so it's just the base game.

I reinstalled the game.

I validated the game files.

I grabbed logs from the launcher and attached them to this post.

Am I missing something?

You've cut off those ss so I can't see what launcher version you are on, but I only see 2024.8 in those logs. And it's been awhile since a clean reinstall, so let's try that:

Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

Is that any better?

Is that any better?

Well, let's just say Steam got even more confused.

The short version:

I followed the procedure you outlined (more than once). When trying to run the game, Steam would show it was "running" Vic3 for about 5-10 seconds, then tell me the game wasn't running. No launcher, no game. I could click on the Play Button again. Happened several times. Also, I verified the game files every time Steam did this. 100% verified; no problems found even though it literally couldn't run the launcher.

So, after this happened about six times even when deleting the folders in question, I did it again. This time, after reinstalling the game from scratch and Steam just saying the game was running for a few seconds before stopping, I manually uninstalled just the launcher, reinstalled just the launcher, and then tried to run the game. It worked.

:shrugs:

Thanks for the help, Andrew. Mark it resolved, but I'll be damned if I know why. Something funny with the launcher?
