Surviving Mars just has a natural affinity with Stellaris helped of course by the fact that you have already given us a Stellaris themed dome which shows you're quite comfortable for the two games to be connected so at some point in the future would it be possible to have a Stellaris based expansion pack where we can take our favorite Stellaris races and settle them on their planets please.

Because the races in Stellaris have loads of different planet types to settle it would open the game to lots of new planet types (Tropical, Tombworld, Desert etc) and presumerbly different resource needs for the different colonies as well.

Also because both games use a tile system to show the planet surface you could even copy across the localised effects like wild animals, swamps, frozen wastes ect -just think of all the possibilities you could have if you bring these two games together plus who wouldn't want to plan a settlement on a Gaia world :)

What we need is a CK2 to EU4 to Vic2 to HOI4 to Tropico 6 to Surviving Mars to Stellaris Savegame converter. Burgundy / Kingdom of Jerusalem in spaaaaaaaaace!

Having alien species and buildings, as well as different planet types, would require A LOT of work. There's what, 120 different species portraits and 8 building sets. Imagine animating 120+ different characters (some species have different phenotypes, genders etc...) in a variety of activities (dining, drinking, excercising, walking around in a space suit). Animating a handful of species would be feasible, but then everyone wouldn't be able to create their favorite empire in SM.

It would be simpler to make a SM preset civilization in Stellaris. All you need is a slightly taller humanoid portrait (due to lower gravity), a new city background (domes), maybe a new shipset and stations, and a start in Sol system together with UNE, but separate from it. Maybe it could be an anniversary Free-LC this year?
