I was sitting in the Twitch chat waiting for the EU4 stream and I saw Blondie doing a test in the chat so I thought I would ask a question, will there be a sub-button.

This then lead to the Paradox replying with "We don't want you guys to pay for the streams" Which I can't help but call it a false equivalency. We wouldn't be paying for the stream we would be paying to support the stream and in turn Paradox.

Personally I like the forum badges next to the name and adding them to twitch would not only be easy to do but it would mean I can show my support.

I can understand the legal aspect of not wanting to partner with Twitch but I don't understand locking out a revenue stream because you don't want the fans paying for it.

I don't use Twitch much but I am a massive Paradox fan and would like to support the content I schedule my day so I can watch them.

We very much understands that you guys would love some unique emotes by subscribing to the Twitch stream, and we would love to provide that to you but the problem is we don't want to charge you for it. The Streams are there to make you guys come closer to the people at the company and have a regular way to get information and interaction with us, having a sub button you pay for those extra features feels like we would be excluding a big part of our community that might not want to give that money and I think it is better to be as inclusive as possible when it comes to this.

Though I'm not @cKnoor so I might be way off on the actual reason, etc.

Paradox and all game devs should be playing hard ball with Twitch. Particularly if you guys are jumping on their games sales platform. Developer accounts should have features equivalent to a partner in addition to no ads. I'm sure they don't want to muddy the branding of what being a sub means ($$$ for stuff) so some branding work would be needed to add distinction to it. Don't let them get lazy like Steam.

We have no plans to apply to get Twitch Partner status. In fairness to Twitch we've already got a version with all the tech upgrades on our account, we just don't have the sub button active. The main reason for this is that we want you to support us by buying our games rather than giving us money for streams. And on a personal level I don't like sub buttons where all you'd get is emotes, I want there to be something more, at least an alert for subs joining. Which is not something I want to add to our streams as it would disrupt the flow for the casters, and might look odd on ParadoxExtra.

With all that said, we have good contacts with Twitch and we'd love to at least add some emotes for you to use in chat, but no concrete plans yet.
