1) Where did you buy the game and what language is it in.
2) What are the langauge settings on your computer. (You find them under regional and language options in your control panel)
3) What path is your HoI2 game installed into?
4) Did you have similar issues with patch 1.1 (if you tried to install that one)?

5) Did you reinstall the OS after installation of Hoi 2? Usually such an action wipes the registry.

I had the same problem, game bought from e-bay

I'm not going to mail you since I already resolved the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling, then applying the patch on a clean 1.0.
I think it has something to do with the updater checking the registry for the path. I renamed the path once, it still started the game but the path in the registry appeared different. I also couldn't uninstall using the uninstaller so instead I manually deleted everything, including the reg entries. Works fine now though.

Hi,
I wanted to uninstall HOI2 before installing the patch, to have a clean setup (many mods installed, see sig).
I have a message saying " Component trasfer error : Core file" and then the uninstall abort.
What should I do ?

Okay folks, looks like if your path is messed up for various reasons in the registry, you need to uninstall and then reinstall and just apply the new patch.

What should the registry path be? I was able to patch without unloading the game on my PC but I am not able to do that on my laptop. The main difference between the two is that my laptop has HOI1 also installed.
I have another PC that I use for multiplay that I will try and get back. I'm trying to avoid reinstalling because my disc is at work (with my backup copy also!)

The other PC was updated without any problems. Both machines had the same registry paths (HKLocal).
The registry path should point to the main HOI2 folder where you installed the game to. Try installing to the default drive and directory.
