Patch 1.03b not compatible with old savegames and install script still runs on Steam

Steam just downloaded a patch to CK2, even though I specifically set it not to do so. Presumably this is because it reran the steam install script every time it started. But as a result, now I have a saved game I can't play.

Furtheremore, the patch says steam install script running every time CK2 runs is fixed in the patch... but it's not.

Agreed, the C++ first time script still is running on every launch.

I figured out what in the 1.02b savegame files 1.03b didn't like. It was crashing trying to process the "message_interest" entry; someone I tagged to watch for. Deleting it allowed me to load my savegame. However, this is *exactly* what the patch notes say is fixed... which is odd, because it never crashed my game before. Did you guys do the opposite of the patchnotes?

Maybe you marked someone as interesting, then saved (corrupt savegame due to bug), close the game, updated and what you say in your post.

Holy S*** Paradox, is there a temporary solution to this that we can do? I really dont wanna start a new game, and especially not now when im finally getting full control of england as Norway.... I was going to play it now and this patch destroyed the save files...

Why is this thread dead? Isnt there lots of other steam users who have this problem? Post here damn it, make paradox feel the urgent need to fix this asap and not like in a month or two.

What annoys me is that they say the bug is fixed, but I saved and loaded games with interests tagged under 1.02b and had no crashes. I only had a crash when I saved a game under 1.02b and then loaded it under 1.03b. That's not fixing the bug; that's creating one.

If you want to fix your saved game, you need to search the file for the message_interest part and delete it and the {} area it surrounds. If you're uncomfortable with that you could upload your savegame somewhere and I'll fix it for you.

My Game crashes when i played a batle.

Is this because i used an old Savegame, too?

Sounds like you may have messed something up. Do you have an earlier save you can use and can you upload that somewhere I can take a look? They are rather large.

Point 8 the problem with savegames of 1.02

Check your Checksum. it should be 1.03b KUMH right after installation, if not then reinstall.

none of my saves work... none... when I load them the map goes to the bottom left corner and all countries dissapear... for all my saves....

What version and checksum show on the main game menu? Under what version were the saves created?
