Patch 1.09 Problems

When I install 1.09 during the installation process I get a message indicating that some files will need to be removed or what not.

Once the download and extraction is completed it either A. Removes the actual game but not its components. So when I attempt to load the game it just "searches" Or B. I get a CTD when I attempt to start a scenario.

First time I have ever had an issue with a Patch. Any help with the issue will be appreciated.
 
I cannot imagine what could cause such a problem, I'm not aware of anyone else reporting this with 1.09. I'd try a complete uninstall (copy valued saved games elsewhere first), defrag your hard disk, then reinstall EU2 followed immediately by 1.09. If it happens again I can only guess your 1.09 download might be bad in some way, try getting a fresh copy.

To perform the file operation, click the Yes button; otherwise, click No.

Is the message I get when I try to install the patch or even uninstall the game. Doesn't matter if I select Yes or No. Either removes the game or Wont load a scenario. I'll remove much as possible and complete a defrag. And see's what happens.....
 
Who is the publisher of your version?
Their name will be on the CD.
 
I have three different versions that I keep installing an uninstalling hoping that I can resolve the issue.

Strategy Pack 6

Focus

Encore

Dont know what version I should use. The Encore version seems to be stuck on 1.07 no matter what.

Its says that the patch should be compatible with all versions. I even tried removing the read only files. I have also defrag'd as well downloaded different patches.
 
Never heard of the "focus" or "Encore" versions, they are not publisher names, who is the PUBLISHER of the game. Just list for me all the logo on the CD.

As for the S6 pack there is a sticky thread on that subject and it is published by SF.

Okay so A Ubisoft version and a SF version.
Have you installed any mods or edited any files?

Haven't done either. Just checked the SF site. No 1.09 only 1.08. ubi soft doesn't even have a patch.

Should I change the file name or what not....

I've had so many EU2 version I just cant find the original....Sucks too gotta MP game coming up next Sunday.

Well atleast now we know its a problem because the patch is not compatible with the version....
 
Let me summarize the problem to make sure we are on the same page.

You completly wipe the game from your system following th einstruction in post 4 of the self help thread.
You then install (lets go with the UBI version.)
You can run that version with out troubles.
You then try and install the Patch 1.09 and it gives you an error about a readonly file.

If this is the case follow all the steps upto installing the patch. before you do install it check the status o that file the error message mentioned.
 
Ok, this is exactly what happens.

I do a complete uninstall or remove as much as possible. Still seems to be some EU2 material on my pc no matter how many components I remove.

Then I reinstall the strategy pack SF version.

I already have the 1.09 patch saved to my desktop so then I extract the 1.09 file to my Strategy first first EU2 file. (mind you, I also have a parodox file. I have several versions for different games ie Victoria, Eu2, Crown of the North etc)

Then the error message above appears. So I cancel out of the extraction and go in and manualy remove the "read only" file. I'll come back for it to only tell me theres another read only file so I manualy remove it. Then the patch installs only for me to attempt to run the game and it some how has been completely removed from my system.
All of its components are there however when I click the game Icon it "searches for the game" Weird yeah I know....

What I'm thinking is the game some how is mixed up with the Stratagey first files and the Parodox Entertainment files. I have attempted to remove all traces of EU2.

Also when I go into my C: drive/Strategy First/Europa Universalis2 its empty. All of its components are inside the Stategy First file while the components of my Victory game are actualy inside of the "Victoria" file.

Do I just need to reliaze that 1.09 is not compatible with my versions? I got 1.08 fine.

If you follow the uninstall instruction I mentioned for each of your installed versions, then there will be no trace of EU2 on your system.

But I suggested you use the UBI version because the SF version from the 6pack is not supported by Paradox and it requires it's own unique patch from SF, after which you can apply Pdox patches normally.

Ok I finaly got it....

I had to completly remove all of the versions on my PC and follow the complete uninstall directions from the link above. Completed a "Disk Clean up"...
Then installed the UB soft version and the patch and it worked....

Thanx for all your help....
