Help!! I'm crashing... see below.

Love the game btw, but I'm crashing. Before installing this latest patch, I was always freezing up at a specific date. After searching the forums, I found this patch, unzipped it into my Rome folder, and it worked. A couple of years from the old freeze date, I'm crashing.

I've restarted my computer and read a few threads, but nothing works. I keep crashing at the same date. Could it be my game? Do I need to start over? This is a saved game from before this patch.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a civil engineer so I understand steel and concrete, but computer language might as well be Latin, so please dumb it down.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.

Now onto your problem. You should always start a new game whenever a patch comes out otherwise you may run into problems. However if the problem presists after you have started a new game there may be a few things more you have to do to get it working.

This is a fairly minor issue, and I'm not sure if it's intended or not.

Previously, if you were running a mod, the savegame would be saved in the mod folder's savegames folder. With this patch (and 2.31c, IIRC), this is no longer the case - saves go straight to the vanilla folder. This is the case even if the .mod file includes a line to extend the "save games" folder.

There are some very interesting map files in this build... and since they seem to be inert in relation to the patch maybe someone forgot to remove some of his work on a new expansion...? ;)

All kidding aside, great to see a new build - will go bug hunting when I get some time next week.

Hmmm... pray tell?

I wasn't really sure where to post this, but the "Form the Gallic nation event" asks you to own the province "Aedui" twice.

It's kinda hard to read the requirements, but it requires to own or the northern gallic provinces or the southern ones. Aedui is among both of them, so thats why you can see it twice there.

Code:
allow = {
			or = {
				and = {
					owns = 33		# Arverni
					owns = 34		# Lemovices
					owns = 43		# Carnutes
					owns = 67		# Sequani
					owns = 68		# Aedui
				}
				and = {
					owns = 38		# Aulerci
					owns = 43		# Carnutes
					owns = 45		# Parisii
					owns = 47		# Atrebates
					owns = 68		# Aedui
				}
			}
		}

So what you mean is i only have to own half of Gaul to fire the decision?

Great! Downloading now!

One quesion I have, though.
I reinstalled EU:R and have VV 2.2 now. Is 2.32 incremental?
Or do I need to insall older betas?

EDIT: Got the answer already. Thank you!

I get error-message "This application has failed to start because d3dx9_41.dll was not found.

I had this problem too, and Gaute65's answer was correct:

You must download and install the latest version of directX 9.0c.

I'd been meaning to do that anyway. ;)

On the other hand, I'm getting crashes on exiting again. Haven't seen that for a few months. I'm playing Epigoni mod, though. I don't know if that has any influence.

It has not been addressed yet I'm afraid. I would like more detailed feedback on that one.

Please tell us how to provide that then, because it is a significant problem.

In map\terrain you will now find textures much like the other Clausewitz games including a colormap.dds specifically for the EUR map. The engine still uses colormap_hires.bmp though hence my comment.

Now for the bugs (all of which I reported for 2.31c as well):
  • No prison bars on imprisoned characters
  • Grant title greys out in the character list so you have to go to the character page to grant it from there
  • Naval battles in the outliner show ships with 000 so instead of 8 vs. 12 ships it shows 8000 vs. 12000
  • Owned non-cores are not shown in stripes in the diplomatic map mode
  • Unit experience (not the global/local modifier but the actual unit) shows in red, not green, on the regiment tool tip.
  • On the Government/Council screen the hourglass still shows that office holders expect to hold their positions for life even though this is not the case in a Dictatorship

The only new issue I have seen so far is that the character list seems to start loading slower much earlier than in the previous patch - especially if you resign a Censor and then click the other one as the next action.

This is by no means my area of expertise, but I think it would be interesting to check if this happens irrespective of the OS or if it's specific to a particular version of MS Windows.

I run Vista on my laptop and noticed that, after exiting the game, the OS takes almost a minute to release the memory that was allocated to the game.

I have never seen owned non-cores shown in stripes, only cores not owned (and these still show in stripes).

Indeed - Y seems to be talking about a EU3 feature that hadn't been included in EUR for whatever reason.

I can also confirm some memory problems. If you select a savegame, it'll usually take several seconds to load, which is fine. But if you change your mind and select a different one, it can take several minutes to load, depending on the size of the savegame.

Also, going back to the main menu after clicking 'Single Player' takes ages, as does selecting 'Resign' from the in-game menu. I might do some detailed timings at some point, maybe.

True; I assume it is an oversight, not intentionally left out (but who knows) :)

Regardless I would like cores to work and show like EU3 in relation to map mode and unit recruitment because it would be very useful for modding.

I've fixed some issues with the load times. Might post another beta patch (if not, the fix will be in the official one.)

Thank you! Good to see Rome still getting some attention! :)
