I bought this game 5 days ago, and i played both today and yesterday. I'm afraid even to imagine how bad AI was BEFORE the update.
And, i always play with a maximal amount of enemies.
In case you feel that any specific flaw makes it extremely easy to win - please explain.
It's all fine when you play on one big map with no water, but on shards, in "the battle for outer worlds" mode, npc's usually get stuck on their home shard, or home+1.
Afaik the cause of it is that NPC's don't use tactics, and very limited use of lords.
E.g., situation - NPC is in his second world, want to advance further - but on the other side of portal there are 3 powerful elemenatls. NPC will not concentrate troops before rush - it will send units to death one after another, and will never be able to proceed.
That problem comes actually not only from weak AI, but the system of portals. I think, there should be only one portal only on player/npc homeworld. All others worlds shall be linked with all nearby worlds, not only one or two.
The sharded game mode geography (in example - game with 8(7+player)npc's), as i see it:
Starting cluster 1: x4 Homeworld(1portal - 1 portal to border world) => x2 Border world(4 portals - 2 portals to different homeworlds in each, 1 portal linking it to another border world, 1 portal further on advanced world in each borderworld) =>
Starting cluster 2: x4Homeworld(1p) => x2 border world(same as in C1)=>
Middle clister(holy places):x2 Advanced worlds(7-8 portals each - 4 portals with all border worlds in each, 1-2 portals to another advanced world, and 2 portals to optional(hardcore) worlds)
Secret(hardcore)worlds(x2) - e.g. dremer of lava worlds, with most powerful monsters, accesible only from advanced worlds(2 portals in each - 1 portal to advanced world A, 1 portal to advanced world B)
