Patch extract

I just downloaded the beta patch, installed RAR and then tried to install it over my CK DV. It doesn't work, it comes up with 20 errors, an example is below,

any ideas how I can get the patch installed?, I also want to download one of the improvement packs and I think I need the patch for that and I think it might happen again if I do it.

Try moving the RAR to your CK folder. If you can't find the download you'll have to re-download and tell your computer to save the file somewhere specific. Preferably the CK folder, but My Documents or the Desktop work too.

Patches are not designed to be run from the temporary internet files folder.

It sounds like you have Vista and you have installed the game in the default directory c:\program files\paradox interactive\crusader kings.

Vista is very protective about the c:\program files-folder. Reinstall your game in a newly created folder like c:\games and then unrar the patch in your main crusader kings folder.

it downloaded but a new problem occured, after downloading the patch and then the DVIP,,,a few errors came up stating this.

palette'gfx\palette\eyr_btn_back.bmp' not found. The same error appeared but with forward in place of back

the other error stated,
file:db\events\chaplain-events.txt not found

any ideas?, are these errors from DVIP or the beta patch?

Well they aren't errors from the beta-patch, since else there would have been a lot of reports about it. I also don't think that they are errors from DVIP, since else you would have seen more reports about that to.

So it looks like something went wrong with your download or installing. Try it again is the only solution I can think of right now.

I just tried it again, just the patch this time. I got the same errors. I will try it with just DV this time.

You should install your game and mod as follows

1. Crusader Kings
2. Deus Vult
3. Betapatch of October 15
4. DVIP


If you have Crusader Kings Complete (= the CD-version of CK+DV) then you need to install as follows

1. Crusader Kings Complete
2. Betapatch of October 15
3. DVIP

Ok so i have the patch downloaded and sitting in my CK program files folder. It doesnt say it is a rar file, but it always asks me what program i want to open it with when i try to run it.

I am not good at this stuff, what do i need to do?

Download WinRar, and then you will be able to open in and extract the files.
