Patch problems

Hi there, EU2 arrived at my door today and it seems to be my first post aswell.

I was having troubles with EU2 starting but I looked in the other threads about this problem and have fixed it.

However I'm trying to patch the game now since the version that came out of the box is v1.0. However whenever I try and apply a patch it says I don't have EU2 installed and aborts the installation!

Also do I have to install each patch in turn or can I go straight to 1.09?

First of all, when you patch you can go straight to the most recent version. But I have a hard time believing you actually bought an 1.00 version when you recently have purchased it.

My version, bought several years ago, was already at version 1.04 out of the box

What is the publisher of your EU2 copy (should be on the box, the manual or the CD somewhere), and what does it tell you as version number after you have started your EU2, and have arrived in the main menu. This should be visible in the corner of the screen.
