I've tried to install the patch but it says only that it is unable to find installed crusader kings 2.

"Could not find crusader kings 2 installed"

Now I have installed the game through steam, and my brother never had the same issue, it updated itself. I've tried to play on the internet with my brother but then our games wont work because i have the wrong version of the game.

Does anyone know how to fix this problem? because I've tried much =

You can't install outside patches to Steam. Steam takes care of your games updates. You could try to validate the cache files on Steam. Press right mouse button over the Crusader Kings II in your game library and chose properties. Chose local files and press verify integrity game cache. Let it check the files and it should download those files that are not correct again. If this doesn't fix the checksum then I suggest to reinstall the game. You should also check if its really you who has the wrong check sum or your friend. Correct checksum is CPGP.

I assume you downloaded the patch from this link? If so, you might notice the first word of the title of that thread: GamersGate Patch 1.04c Link. Since you have Steam, not GG, it doesn't apply to you and you don't need it.

One of the entire points of Steam is that it applies patches for you. There is and was nothing you need to do, as long as you are online. What version and checksum does the game show now?

I think the checksum and versions are correct and up to date. I cant get a print screen of it sadly, but i can tell you that it says something like 1.04c (which i persume is the correct update for this days date) as well as KNHR (or something) next to it. I have searched around whereas I've found out that the CKH (or something like that) is the wrong one to have

hmmmm.... Maybe the problem lies through steam, and the fact that we are on the same network and is using steam accounts.

Thank you for your answers though

You have a bad checksum. Use the Steam client option "Verify integrity of game cache" and see if the checksum changes to the right value, CPGP . If not you need to do a full clean reinstall: uninstall the game from Steam and move any valued save games elsewhere. Manually delete the CK2 directories from under the Steam AND MyDocuments folders, now reinstall the game via Steam.
