i downloaded the patch to my desktop (bad idea?) and tried to install it from there and it said: whatever.exe is not a valid pervious version and could not be upgraded! when i start the game up it says EUv1.02 and the patch i download was the 1.02 to 1.03 patch, so whats up?!
 
it, of course, said somthing more technical, but i was too busy thinking of ways to destroy my computer to copy down what it said, i think it was the pathway(?) or filename(?) im semi computer illiterate
 
Hmm... there was a bad version 1.02 floating around. Does your screen say EU1.02 or EUv1.02 ? The v1.02 was a flawed patch. If that's what you actually have, it's possible that the 1.02 to 1.03 upgrade won't work, but someone with more knowledge that I will have to advise you. Given that Paradox distributed it, I'd think they'd have upgrades to 1.03 for both versions of 1.02, but again, I don't really know. If this is your problem, the brute force fix would be to do a clean install and then patch straight to 1.03.

As you are in the US I assume you have the Strategy First edition of the game? If so you must have their version of the patch, the european one will not work.

Also, some people had had more success unintalling the game, reinstalling it and using the 1.00 to 1.03 patch.

Correect but the European one is not out yet (the game being released in March, the 1.03 on Paradox page is the Scandinavian one.

it's ok to be a newbie full of doubts,
but at least you could try to be a little more smart
with the questions and the details that are needed to help you...

i didnt' think the filename mattered, or i would have posted it, hey and thanks for reading my other posts!:D

Everything matters ;)

Just try the 1.00 to 1.03 patch and if it doesn't work, do a clean install, and then apply the patch.
