Patched CK-DV to Oct 08 2.1, error msgs

HI- just patched my gamersgate CK v 5 and DV to 2.1, I get this error message on initial scenario load for Ebgland kingdom


error: 'palette \gfx\palette\eyr_btn_back.bmp' not Found

it gives me 3 options, ignore, retry, close, choosing ignore allows the load to continue, then 2 further palette errors (ignored) and I am in-game, windows not placed in right places etc. Basically unplayable.

Tried the retry option on each palette error, game crashes.
On startup screen, top right reads 'Crusader Kings: DV Beta 2.1' so I think the beta installed okay, I placed the rar file in teh Crusader Kings main folder and unpacked it there as I read to do elsewhere on this forum.

Game was playing fine on Ver5 CK before, even though the load screens said DV, top right of startip screen correctly read CK Ver 5

Can someone tell me what to do pls, I don't think uninstalling then reinstalling both games, plus the 2.1 patch again but this time leaving the rar 2.1 beta on desktop and running the unpack from there will make any difference will it? The files still get unpacked to the same folder.

That error means that DV cannot find the required files. This can happen if you do not have DV but have installed the 2.1 beta on top of CK, or if you have incorrectly installed DV in its own folder instead of installing it over CK.

Both the loading screens for CK and for DV have the words Deus Vult on them, so that's not how you check.
Is this your loading screen?

If it is not, you do not have Deus Vult installed, or do not have it installed correctly.

Deus Vult should be installed on top of CK, not in another directory. Also note that of course you cannot use the 2.1 beta patch for Deus Vult to upgrade a Crusader Kings install to DV.

Yes that's it. And the home screen says CK and in top right corner, CK-DV 2.1 Beta.

I installed CK first (already the latest, 1.5 V) from Gamersgate, thenm donwloaded DV and clicked teh exe , it created a DV folder btw, on its own, no input from me.

When installing the DV2.1 beta, I followed this forum moderator's instructions and put it in teh CK main folder and unpacked it there. Perhaps I should also put it iin the DV main folder and unpack it there too? Worth a try, I'll do it and come back. Thanks for your reply.

OK-sorted.

I ran the DV installation again, changing Gamersgate's default target directory from creating a new DV one to the main CK folder. I then re-unpacked the 2.1 patch- 2 DV loading screens, correct CK-Deus Vult 2.1 on top right of home screen, and in-game all updates are visible and everything works fine.

I do think that Paradox needs to change the default installation dir of DV (in Gamersgate's auto-download syatem) to teh CK main dir.

Now- dare I install the DV Improvement Pack? LOL
