I don't know if it's related to the weekend downtime, but there are NO patches anywhere on the site ...when I try to click on the link in the v1.1 sticky thread I get a 404 error, and if you go to the main page there are no patches listed for HoI2 at all :eek:

I tried other games that I *know* have patches out and none would download, even if they were listed.

I couldn't see a general forum feedback to put this in - if there is one please move it. Thx

edit: OK, on further exploring I found a "downloads page that was generic, rather than game specific, that said they were disabled. might be a good idea to repeat that info on all the patch pages that are accessed for each game. also, I assume the patches will be back evetually?

Well, I went there, clicked on the "Or Direct from Paradox" link (just like I tried before, in fact, like I stated) and...

On the Front page for HoI2 - you know, the one someone who had just bought the game and come to the company site looking for patches would try - there's a link called "Downloads/Patches" and if I click it I get this page:

which states:

Downloads

No downloads available yet.

Why is Paradox no longer providing the patch? In fact, why is it now providing ZERO patches for any of its games. Relying on third parties to host your patches is, to say the least, bizarre.
 
If you did look at the thread I pointed to it lists other locations and in fact lists them first. If you want the patch you have been told where you can find it.

Don't see what your problem is really.
 
My problem is that I don't see why the patches are not available on the game company's own site, and it's not an unreasonable question to ask. Anyone who just bought HoI2 is going to go to the main game page - NOT the forums - and see a "no patches available" notice, which is going to mean anyone who doesn't come into the forums will never know about patches. Why would Paradox choose to make it hard for people to obtain patches?

It's not just HoI2, it's every patch on the site as far as I can see. No longer can I easily check if there's a new patch for some other game - I now have to check all the forums.

Yes, the patches are out there, on the internet, somewhere. I kind of would expect the actual company producing and supporting the game to at least have the patches up too. After all, squinting at page 3 of the manual I see....

If I do I get "Downloads are currently disabled." on the main page. If I persevere and click on "HoI2" then "patches" I get "No downloads available yet".

Anyone who just bought the game will innocently think there are no patches. At least you could put some note there directing people to the forums or something.

And it makes me very nervous as to how much Paradox intends to support games if they are taking down patch support. What if I need to reinstall in a years' time - if the mirror sites are down, there'll be nothing.
 
Well you know about the forums so you are okay ;) , thanks for expressing your concern for the rest of the great unwashed masses though. :)

The support forum of each game always has a sticky thread called "the latest patch is X.XX"

And Paradox has the best reputation for patching their games of any company out there, so no worries on that front.

But if you did worry about paradox going under it would in fact be the various other web pages that specialize in patches that you would rely on for the patches.
 
After buying HOI2 the first thing I did was go to the link paradox plaza under about game clicked HOI2 then patches an updates it states none available.....2 weeks later after actually going to the boards I find this is untrue. It still says there are none available under patches an update or even downloads. You shouldnt have to dig through a message board to find patches and updates please correct this, at very least place a link to where it can be dowloaded.
 
Since this is an "Enhancement" package, it is a special bonus for people who really care about the games and become members here, Membership does have it's priveledges. ;) :D
