Are the patch installers compatible with windows 98? Every time I download one I get the corrupted file message (and I have downloaded then all several times from all available sources I could find so the files can't possibly be all corrupt).

havnt tried the v1.06 installer on a win98 system but all the earlier worked just fine

I double click the patch icon and it takes sometime "reading the content of packages". When the bar reaches de end it goes to the begining with that same caption and them error message appears
"The content of this file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity and try again"
There are no more applications running and I know it's not of some system error because I reinstaled this OS a fw months ago and I had the same error wiwth the previous instalation.
This error ocurs in computer with win 98 first release (no SE) it is an AMD K-6 400 Mhz with 64 Mb ram, if that helps.

Publisher? Do you mean the strategy first icon?
About the second question, I meant that it is not a problem of the current installation of win98.
But know that you mention it it is true. 1.05 gives exactly the same problem. The only that somewhat worked was the 1.04 NA, but it claims it can't find the game.

Strange that you ended up with the SF version and you live in Portugal?
So you can download the patch without problem correct?
It is only when you try and run the program from your desktop that the problem occurs?

I got exactly that message at least half a dozen times when trying to get the update as early as possible. Sorry, I don't know why it worked in the end. I just tried many times and was happy when it finally worked.

As far as I know the download itself worked and as I read the initial poster here (basically from the error message described actually), there is no obvious problem with the download. The problem occurred when one start the patch installation with the patch exe and the patch starts its internal procedure.
The error message is from the patch-exe, with no apparent downloading problems from the server.
I believe I did a very quick compare (just the file sizeo , pretty pointless I guess) of different downloads, but I didn't see anything obvious . I did several downloads at different times during 1-2 days and tried each download several times on two PCs (one XP and one Win98SE). When I did a download much later, the patch-package worked. Again I, didn't do any proper analyzing, just was happy I got it working o
If I think of similar problems with other software and do some speculation based on this it could have been some temporary stuff left on my systems that collide with the new unpacking.
Even if it is a pain, one could try to remove the (clean, right?) installation of HOI completely and then try to unpack the patch. This would at least show if there is something with the basic HOI installation that is messing with the patch. I guess one could unpack the patch to any directory in the test.
Sorry, I don't neither game or cd nearby so I can't give any details from them.

Yes, there is no error message when I download the patch. I downloaded it using dap and other times using plain opera browser download system.
Okay I just thought of something.
Clear your temp internet files (the Cache).
Then delete the patch.
Then download following the directions I gave above. Use IE if possible.
Then try the new patch.

I am getting a MsgBox error upon running the patch that says: "An installation support file 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Installshield\engine\6\Intel 32\iKernel.exe' could not be installed.
The directory or file cannot be created."
Installshield then just aborts upon OK.
I'm not running any background tasks ('cept necessary WinXP ones). The C:\Program Files\Common Files\Installshield\... directory is created, and the iKernel.exe and its support .dlls are written to the directory, but the patch process never gets passed the MsgBox (after the first InstallTaskbar has processed. Error occurs roughly 1/3 into second progress bar). I've successfully patched HOI several times on this rig and never seen this message from HOI or any other InstallShield product.

I've been running 1.05 for 3 or 4 months now with no problems. 1.05 may have patched 1.02 but I cant remember. I take from other submissions, that you generally recommend a de/un/re (deinstall/unistall/reinstall) to fix CTDs and game problems. I haven't made any modifications to the game, and this doesn't appear to be game related. It appears to be some installer problem instead.

I was thinking more a cd Copy protection problem.
But I now doubt it.
Try wiping HOI from the system, delete the patch you DLed.
Do a fresh install and then DLed a new copy of the patch from the Paradox Download page and install it.

Thanks Castellon, but I resolved it.
The particular error was related to too many Temp files. I purged my Temp folder, deinstalled HOI, reinstalled, patched. Everything including December 13 1941 is working well. Thanks Again.
