Patching problem

Hello, I have a problem with patching the game to 1.3a.
Here's what I did:
1) Installed the game
2) Downloaded the 1.3a patch
3) Installed the patch
4) Started the game and it doesn't say 1.3a patch in the upper left corner.

So I tried uninstalling, cleaning registry of paradox interactive, deleted the installshield files, and then a reinstall, but still doesn't work.
I would be really thankful if somebody could help me.

I take it we are talking about HOI2 and NOT Doomsday.
Did the patch appear to install correctly?
Do you have both games installed?
do you have more than one copy of either installed?

We are talking about HoI2

1) Yes, it seemed so, it even said "You don't need to install DirectX 8 because you have a newer version"
2) I don't have doomsday installed
3) No, though I have tried like 5 times to reinstall, but before reinstalling I deleted the game folder and registry too.

delete your internet cache, and the patch, then download a new copy of the patch, and try it on a fresh install.
Are you installing to C: drive and using the default path?

Yes, I'm installing to the default location. ( on C: drive )

what do you mean by "delete your internet cache" ?

From Your browser
Tools- Internet Options - under "Temporary Internet files" there is a button to delete the files. Do that.
