Hi guys,
1)As a catholic nation I turned to counterreformed and thought that by the rules I could get the heretics to see the true light but after converting I never saw any screen or choice to do so once I anexed a heretic province...what did I do wrong?.now that damn council already happened and I have to endure those anexed scumbags all over my enlighted empire. I know about that 5000 pop thing but this should be different, no? I only get them now with that random event.
2)Where in my game files do I have to download the 1.09 patch? I did it but don't see any change whatsoever. Do I have to begin a new game to feel it (its currently my first one and a grand campaign).
3)Sometimes my troops refuse to go into an enemy province which is still curently at war with me...does it have to do with my army's size and composition? because other armies don't have that problem.
4) It sucks the big one when you send a fleet somewhere and gets stopped on its way by some enemy but then stays there and you have lost track of them.
Any help will be surely greatly apreciated

1. You can only forceconvert a nation in a peace treaty. Once you have enough stars you can ask for convertion. You can't convert your own provinces. Well you can actually, by sending in a colonist if the provinces pop is lower then 5000. If the pop is higher I suggest decimating the population

2. Well, you can download it at this site. Then just run the patch. Nothing much changes in game terms however, merely some important bug fixing

3. It has to do with the army's size... Make the army a little bigger

4. Nothing to do about that... You do can set up your msg boxes so that it reports of a won/lost naval battle

Running an old save game on a new patch is likely to cause major screwups - it won't damage the game files, but it'll make a hell of a mess of the campaign you were running. Once you've run the .exe file that you downloaded, just start a new campaign.

The FAQ site by Huszics explains army sizes vs. being able to move them into enemy provinces. See the Newbie FAQ in the FAQ forum for links.

Ahhh...so, its part of a peace treaty...and you covert the whole loosing NATION...I thought it was about conquered provinces after the peace treaty. So basically you can change the nation's religion but can't change the individual province unless you do the 5000 thing.
gotcha..thanks a bunch

Another question...<clears throat>...
Reading those impresive AARs going around one gets the impresion that I have to be stupid not conquering 3 provinces each war. Right now I have mighty armies and when I go to war with some unfortunate I do stomp them into the dirt and (following advise) crush their capitol plus some more provinces and their field armies. BUT...no amount of damage I inflict on those bastards induces them to give me anything beyond two provinces and I don't know why.
thanks

I've found that even when you defeat an enemy to the point of annexation, they won't give up 3 provinces no matter what *if you ask for them*. The best you can expect is two provinces and 250 ducats with 6 stars, and they'll even refuse that sometimes.

However, if you want 3 specific provinces, capture those provinces and only those provinces, plus their capitol. Sooner or later the enemy will offer you all three provinces themselves, saving you a diplomat to boot.

Also...its still my first game but when I see all you guys with that: "I play the GC with that or that minor or such and such modifications" I just get green with envy ;) . Now, how the hell would I do it to play, say with Naples or Tuscany? I know you must do some major modifications on the files but I must confess myself a bit "non-enlighted" to do so right away...Is there like a "Moron guide to play with non given nations"? Could any of you just give me a fast approach to that?
Thank you sooo much in advance

Just download and install th IGC. U can get it from here http://www.ludd.luth.se/~doomdark/EU/

BiB,
I have seen the link through the scenario forum thread before. Again, I don't even know where to download it...to the Europa Universalis folder under programs, to the scenario...Some stuff it seems you guys take it for granted and I just don't know or am not as used. If I go to that IGC link I see nothing more than warnings but scant info prior to download it directly...Pls can just someone give detailed steps for an idiot how to make this happen optimaly? phrases like "Just download" must seem pretty obvious for some but don't tell me zippo. C'mon help this soul in pain get where you are.
thanks in advance a million

Download the zip file to a temporray folder or ur desktop or so. From there unzip/extract it to ur EU folder. It will put files in the appropriate subdirectory itself. After that run patch.Exe and then igcconfig.exe to set ur options. Then enjoy :D

Ahhh..now we are talking :D
Thank you so much

Ok, I have done it...now, with that igcconfig.exe I can play a new game by itself or does it affect already the whole game if I run it like always? I mean, do I need to enter that config every time I want to play the "expanded" version or has the game automatically updated itself once I ran the patch? Help

You have to run the igcconfig.exe, when you want to start a new game with a new country. The other countries, you choose in igcconfig.exe are also a major, and cannot be annexed by you in the game.
When you have saved a game, you don't need to run igcconfig.exe before reloading the game.

Same thing happens I guess with all those new scenarios, no? I donwload them to the scenario folder and have to open them manually from that folder, no? once saved I can load them from the game itself. right? :D
