btw, reading all the complains about VV, i have to wonder why some want to use it aslong it is totally buggy, i would wait atleast 1-2 patches untill its fixed before using it in a MP game

EDIT: and as far i can see you guys already feel on yourself some of these bugs:

http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?p=9094139#post9094139

The only problems I've had is the error message I get whenever I exit the game completely. This doesn't affect my gameplay since I am already exiting the game. The vast number of improvements far outweigh the bugs, especially for me seeing as the only bug I've experienced does not affect gameplay.

VV or Continue Pax Romana?

I can go either way. I've installed VV and have kept a 1.3 folder, so I can continue with the Pax Romana campaign as is if that's what we decide. I've played VV just a little today and am still lost in its newness. For me, it would be hard to play VV in a MP game this Wednesday, as there is so much new stuff that I haven't learned yet and probably won't by Wednesday. But it looks real promising so I would like to move into it.

As for the current campaign, I think it could go for several more sessions. It will take a while for the Greco-Roman-Everyone Alliance to wear down Seleucia, but eventually we will. And then we will have a falling out and things will get really interesting. But all the time this is happening, everyone, (except Jorian, perhaps) will chomping at the bit to move on to VV.

So, I wouldn't mind playing out Pax Romana this week and then, unless the campaign has become too good to abandon, switch to a new VV campaign in December.

But moving to VV this week could be a lot of fun too.

More Vae Victus

I hear ya Ken. I can go either way. Although I have to disagree with you about the mighty Seleucid Empire getting wore down. The war has gone well for me. A fun little side note about the expansion, when you train mercenaries you don't use your manpower, like the original. But you are unable to reinforce them when they take losses, thus making mercenaries take absolutely no manpower regardless what happens to them. Downside is you have to train more mercenaries and send them to the battered unit. There is a merge button which will help merge the damaged units making the rest full strength. So basically in Vae Victus if you are fighting with an all mercenary army you are not going to have any drain on your manpower, your troops won't reinforce either but if your manpower is low it would be an effective way to keep fighting or protecting your borders while rebuilding your manpower pool. Very cool.

All I care is that we should decide soon because I will have to uninstall and reinstall everything off Gamers Gate. I could go either way, so I will abstain from voting.

I agree the current campaign still has a couple more exciting sessions in it. In my opinion, I think VV is more complex, but I don't think that necessarily helps multi-player. I think it was designed more to keep a single player game interesting. Personally, I found all the constant pop ups about my internal politics during my first shot at a single player game to be a nuisance. I can't imagine trying to chat with other players and fight human v. human wars while all these pop ups are constantly coming up.

Anyway, again, just let me know what the group decides so I can be prepared for Wednesday. And I just want to make sure we are playing this Wednesday since it is the start of the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S.? I am available to play.

Well I think I will make the decision Monday night. So far Jorian has been the only player who is voting to stay with the original. At this point in time we have more people for switching to Vae Victus than against it. We will see how the tally stands on Monday.

Just Incase

And if we do switch to Vae Victus for next wednesday then I will be Rome. Being our 3rd campaign I wont say you cant be a country that you've played before, I'm sure everyone has their favorites. As for me, I try and pick a different one each time.

VV Picks

For our first VV campaign, I'd like to be:
1. Carthage
2. Egypt
3. Rome

And if all the majors get taken, then
1. Armenia
2. Pontus
3. Bosporan Kingdom

VV and MP

I agree with Pax's point that VV might hamper MP play. But I'm hoping it will make for longer campaigns as we all struggle with our own governments. So far, it looks like it will put the brakes on rapid early expansion. I'm still having trouble finding any generals for my armies and have had to fall back on assigning them to governors, which really limits their scope of action. Here's hoping others are having the same problem.

Country Selection

Cool, Pax if you want a major your going to have to list one that you want. If we end up starting a new campaign then I will make a new thread tomorrow with the new country list and all. Also I will write a little bit on our new thread about the goal of our new campaign. Winning conditions. Something we haven't had yet. I would like to remind everyone that this is indeed a wargame. Key word there is war. The goal of our next campaign will be this: Last nation standing. So if this is not to your liking or if you were looking for a peaceful campaign where everyone sits in their own borders and sings kumbaya then this next campaign is not for you. The only rules in this game are these: There are no rules. That's right ladies and gentlemen, my next campaign will be whiner free. If you are faint of heart or war frightens you then stay away. But if you dream of conquest and the glory of battle then I welcome you to my next camapign....the very FIRST Vae Victus Online Campaign. And it shall be called

... as far I am concerned, I still think the last week voting was the true and legit one, and that already ended and more people than just me voted on continuing this campaign, do you wish to have the voting untill the point where only i am against a new VV campaign?

At the time of that voting i told everyone that i do not mind if you wish to change if you decide it then, but i do mind it if a decision was already made and then it seems to be erased

...anyway, the save works perfectly, latest tomorrow my AAR should be done, and i hope latest tomorrow you guys also write if the campaign goes on or is assassinated, so i know if this is my last AAR or not...

Amen. I couldn't agree more. No rules, no editing, and most importantly no whining or quiting.

Looks like Egypt hasn't been taken yet, so I guess I can be them.

Jorian

Save game editing huh? Well you just got banned from my campaigns. I don't trust any kind of editing, ESPECIALLY in a multiplayer campaign where players are competing with each other. Goodbye.

Vae Victus

This wednesday we will start the new Vae Victus campaign. I will make a new thread shortly.

A Little Harsh

I think this is a little harsh. Jorian is obviously a tinker and likes to personalize things. Look at all the effort he put into making the flags and writing up his AAR. I agree that we should not edit the save game file (which I think only the host could do, right?). So as long as you, or whoever is hosting, doesn't do it, then we are safe. And if we get distrustful, we can always do the diff thing, but I doubt if any of us would stick around if things had deteriorated to that point.

Anyway, I think we should give Jorian the benefit of the doubt and assume that he would not surreptitiously edit a save file. In his post, he proposed some ground rules for doing it above board. Let's just tell him that we don't want no stink'n edits, but he can continue in the game if he can live without them.
