Curious situation. As England in the 1660's finally had the opportunity to deal with pesky Scotland. They declared war without having any significant land force, while I happened to have newly outfitted a couple of armies with good leaders. Why not annex them militarily despite the bad boy factor?

Anyway they were the alliance leader with the Iroquois. The Iroquois were totally quite during the five year destruction of Scotland. I offered and Scotland excepted, both as military alliance leaders, annexation at the peace table. The Iroquois were still at war with me and went ballistic, reaking havoc on my trading posts and colonies in the tobacco belt. Shouldn't they have been at peace with me?

Wierdly, I restored to prior saves and tried different techniques to try to get a seperate peace with the Iroquois to no good result. But... Every time I restored, even to prior to the war starting, The Iroquois were now hyper-aggressive. Ack. I've decided to patch the save game to give me seven stars against the Iroquois so I can get a peace with them.

So, to reiterate, the respective alliance leaders make peace (allbeit annexation), but the alliance members remain at war. Bug?

No, this is intentional because you didn't make a formal peace treaty with Scotland. When a country that is the alliance leader in a war is annexed, the other countries in the alliance will still remain at war with one of them becoming the alliance leader. This isn't a bug.

you sure? i could have sworn i've made peace with alliances by annexing the leader. if not, then, is there a new leader to the alliance, or would you have to make peace with each country? that doesn't sound right.

I can see it being intentional. Doing a variant action from the save file I see you can negotiate normally or annex. Annexation, I imagine, is just asserting your authority because you can, and not following any approved 'due course'.

On the other hand, England has a 'right' (i.e. shields for the Scotish provences), and therefor the Scotish rulers are usurpers who should get no due.

An interesting thing about settling with the Iroquois. I patched the save file to give my self seven stars. I only get three. Reasoning that perhaps the Indian tribes are made harder to settle with, I doubled it to 14. Same three stars in the game. Curious. I ended up paying them off to settle. Then because I accidently hit enter to a peace offer from Scotland giving me all but Lothian, I changed tac anyway as it got me three provences and an indemnity with no badboy hit. I'll annex it later at a reduced badboy cost.
