I've just occupied Portugal's capital, sued for peace, which they gladly accepted. I demanded 1000 ducats as payment, they accept. BUT I haven't received any money!
We are no longer at war yet my balance is the same as it was prior to the peace treaty.

Any ideas?

Computer-controlled countries don´t take out loans to pay you after a war. Therefore you will only get their present amount of money (which might be zero).

There has been some complaining about this. They can´t take out loans, because a one-province minor cannot refuse peace if its capital is occupied. Therefore anyone could gain monstrous amounts of money just by occupying a single province...

But there has been a request so that one could only demand what they have presently - this would reduce the disappointment.

Thanks Bogh

However this situation is very unsatisfactory. Ok I thought 1000 ducs was a lot for my efforts but I shouldn't be able to demand it and them accept it if I'm actually going to receive nothing at all.

Any change happening in 1.08 Paradox boffins?

Love the game by the way, really magnificent scale.

It is not perfect but if you can wait until 1 January to offer peace you will at least guarantee yourself some money. It is worth noting that the computer nations will ask for your loose change in a peace treaty too, but it does always state in the message exactly how much.
