I don't want to spread bad vibes, but I have the feeling that the latest patches have significantly worsened performance compared to the version we had at the end of last week (4.0.6?).
Around 2280 I was always (since 4.x) between 120 and 140 ms per tick in fast forward mode (1000 stars, 20 AI empires). Now I'm at 130 in 2260!
On top of that, I pointed out in my last thread here that my laptop barely heats up. I concluded that the hardware may be underutilized.
Well... This problem has been “solved” since the latest patches, the laptop heats up. But the performance has deteriorated. (Room temperature as last week)

Could it be that the developers want to solve the problems as quickly as possible, but the patches are being developed too hastily and the results are therefore getting worse?

In my testing with same empire, same settings on version 3.14.(whatever the one in steam beta is) vs 4.0.9, 3.14 loaded about 3x as quickly during the first 5 years of the game. Hope it's fixed soon.

Yeah the loadtime in 4.0.9 for my current save in the 2280s was alarmingly long.

The performance is simply put atrocious. I've been running observer games to confirm how this goes and in the recent version on a huge map the average tick is ~500ms not even 200 years in. That didn't use to happen until significantly deeper in the game before. I shudder to think of what happens if I try to add mods too. Considering this was supposed to be the "performance patch" and they effectively gutted good/interesting systems to deliver it, it's incredibly disappointing this is what we got instead.

Do note, I had played the beta and I had noted that the performance was awful there too. I reported it here and I was told by various people that it was simply because "the performance fixes weren't in place yet". Even though the systems that supposedly were causing much of this (pops/trade) were already out. Well people, now that we are not in beta anymore, where are the performance fixes? Did they get lost on the way?

For me, 4.0.9 is running faster than 4.0.6

It feels about the same speed as 3.14 but It's hard to measure.

They said the new pop system allows them to optimize performance but that the optimization would not be present on launch, so I am expecting some kind of future performance patch. And likely it will be simultaneous with the next DLC, if marketing has anything to say about it.

They're optimizing the game. To run slower.

NGL it's hilarious that we lost 25-30% performance compared to 3.1.4 in 4.0 already. And things seem to be becoming WORSE. How did this happen when we supposedly lost a lot of performance hogs, including the trade lanes?

Edit, how are some folks downvoting this. Comparing day by day progress we lost 25-30% of late game speed. Clowns.

This entire stupid patch was about making performance better. Instead we got a game that longer to load, slows as near as before mid game and with constant ungodly bugs.

Paradox we only wanted population rework for this not entire economy rework. The economy rework could have been waited for another year.

It actually slows MORE now, significantly.

I tried to get myself into this and accept my fate for being an idiot who bought this DLC package and not back the old mods.

And oh my God the slowing of the game is infuriating its 35 years in the game and it feels the speed of end game for the 3.14 Patch.

This only not makes me want not play but the pop growth is way way too slow. add the slow game speed and slow pop growth and I feel I wasted time.

This I tried unmodded and modded and it comes to the same issue. The highest speed feels "fast" that goes to "normal" at some time then moves to "fast".

And to add the cherry on the top, its because the game is slow surveying any star system takes just huge chunk of real time now even with 3 scientists doing it in the same time.

I did enjoy how many were so sure there was a Miracle Build coming down the pipe. It is such a common occurrence for some to lay claim it is there and we just don't understand what is being tested.

I certainly do, my patience is being tested and I am failing.
