I purchased King Arthur Collection from direct2drive one week ago. Downloaded it twice with their download manager and reinstalled it even more times. I defragmented my disk, excluded the whole game folder from antivirus control. The game still runs very slow, changing of visual settings seems to have no effect on performance at all.

Fraps shows 9-11fps on campaign map and 11-23fps on battlemap (for King Arthur Collection version). I tried the King Arthur Demo too and it runs at 21-25fps on campaign map and 25-49fps on battlemap. The battlemap fps comparison is from the same battle (exact same map and number of troops). Same resolution and visual settings were used for both versions (collection, demo) for the comparison. I think that my purchased (Collection) version should run at least as good as the demo, if not even better. Am I missing something? Anyone knows what might be the problem or how to resolve this?

I've sent an email regarding this issue to support@kingarthurthewargame.com one week ago, but still no response from there.

Thanks.

Windows 7 32-bit
AMD Athlon(tm) X2 245, ~2.9GHz

ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series (1GB mem)

Does the support@kingarthurthewargame.com even work?

I think there is something wrong with the collection version from d2d, the Launcher.exe in the game folder doesn't even have an icon, which is a bit weird too, apart from the most obvious fact that the full version runs so terribly slow, while the demo version runs just fine. I wouldn't mind so much if I could at least get a refund, but since I can't and the game is basically unplayable, this whole thing is really disappointing....

I'm not sure what you want them to do? Play tech support just for your computer because 'it feels slow'? Support is for things like if it won't run or crashes constantly.

That processor is about as strong as a Core 2 Duo which was 2 laptops ago for me, that plus 3 gigs of memory and the budget energy-efficient card makes me think you're trying to run it on a laptop.

Which can be done but those specs are not impressive, also if you're running FRAPS that will not help your framerate at all either. It boils down a lot to whether you are capable of streamlining your system, since your specs are basically not great (for 3d gaming at least). I'd guess that since you are angrily posting here about not seeing an icon meaning the game is broken that answer is probably no.

On the off-chance you are, then your bottleneck is probably I/O esp if you're on a laptop since it's probably 5400rpm and not 7200. Cheap fixes for laptops are compressing the folder and disabling paging file for I/O. Memory can probably use a boost but might be okay, your video settings esp shadows etc should be down - that card series is built around high energy-efficiency not gaming beasts.

I play KA on my laptop but it's an MSI GT780R so I'd be pretty pissed if I couldn't ;)

thanks for your answer

Only thing I was expecting is some help. I know the difference between 'it feels slow' and 'it really runs slower than it should'. I'm not trying to run it on laptop, I included Dxdiag report in the email sent to support, I didn't post the report here, because I can't post it as attachment and I don't want it to stretch the post over few screens.

That's why I included the fps values. I'm well aware that I can't run it super smooth, nor on high details. I'm not making this up or something, the King Arthur Collection I purchased from d2d runs considerably slower than the demo, so it's most likely not specs related. I don't know what to do, no refund, it's unplayable, nobody takes me seriously....

btw I apologize for that stupid question from my second post, wasn't supposed to be angry, I'm just disappointed, that's all.

I haven't played the demo I'd guess that there are more things in memory. Or more armies = more cpu cycles. Either way, your machine is riding just above the minimum spec on everything so it's not surprising it's not good performance.

Not to dismiss it completely though, supposedly there was a performance increase in the last patch and Steam has it but GG didn't, I don't know if D2D does or not, might check in that thread.
