Peter's Age of Explorations consists of a 1492 and a 1520 24 player scenario. The 1492 scenario is based on the Paradox Age of Explorations, the 1520 is based on Fate's Age of Reformation.

Both scenarios have been subjected to several of my mods (Manpower, Wealth of Persia, Wealth of India), some AGC changes, as well as many other interesting changes and tweaks.

Primarily intended for MP games, the scenarios are delivered in the form of .eug files, such that nothing except the save file needs to be transferred to players and no mods need to be installed when new players join. Everything is contained in the save files.

Full release and installation notes can be found in release.txt in the zipped archive.

PAoE: Peter's Age of Explorations Modded Scenario for 24 players in EU2
=======================================================================

Version: 1.1.1a
Filename: PetersAgeOfExplorations_1492_v111a.eug
Filename: PetersAgeOfExplorations_1520_v111a.eug

Note: This PAoE requires EU2 version 1.07 or later.

Introduction
-----------------
Peter's Age of Explorations consists of a 1492 and a 1520 24 player scenario.

New releases are made whenever I feel like it. To contribute ideas or change requests for future releases, post to the latest release thread in the EU2 forums. There will be a link to the latest release thread in the subforum EU2 - user made scenarios and mods, currently the link is http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?t=88535 (but that may change)

Primarily intended for MP games, but certainly playable in SP, the scenarios are delivered in the form of .eug files, such that nothing except the save file needs to be transferred to players and no mods need to be installed when new players join. Everything is contained in the save files.

Installation instructions:
-------------------------------
1. Copy the saves file to <EU2ROOT>\scenarios\ (e.g. c:\games\eu2\scenarios\ )
2. Start EU2 in either single- or multi-player
3. Select the PAoE 1492 or 1520 (transmit it to other players in MP or let them download it when you host the game)
4. Start the scenario

Release 1.1.1 Released January 11th, 2004
------------------------------------------------------------
1492:

Global Population Changes
* Upgraded all starting populations of 20,000 to 20,500 for more accurate relative manpower depictions on startup (if they start at 20,000 they experience a bump to the next category after just one month of playing)

Denmark

Songhai
* Gold provinces now much poorer (Bambuk (1490) and Buré (1494) are now base 10 rather than base 50)

Sibir

Russia
* Added Mongol and Ruthenian cultures for easier conversion (historically easy conversions, needed for lower stabcosts that were raised with 1.07 BB. Really ought to be added by event later on, but, oh well)

Venice
* Conscription Centre in Venice itself (representing Italian Condottieri... Ehhm. Well, something like that. They need a manpower and support limit boost, dammit)
* Population of Veneto set to 200,007 to artificially award it the highest manpower category (and to prevent it from suddenly gaining in manpower 110 years down the road)
* Base manpower of Veneto dropped to 6 from 7
- Total result of the three above changes is a fat 10.0 manpower from Veneto, that will ONLY increase by manpower boosting events (1.5 per +1), and a ~14,000 boost to the support limit

Release 1.1.0. September 14th, 2003
------------------------------------------------------------
The Unification Release: The main changes are the unification of various entities in the 1520 scenario: France and Bourbonnais in 1520 (were to be annexed 1527 anyhow), Russia and Ryazan (a year early compared to the 1521 historical date), and a reconstruction of Habsburg Austria (Alsace, Württemberg, Odenburg, Istria, Krain added)

Additionally, a number of economic tech-discrepancies in the 1520 setup were fixed. In general, the 1520 setup is as follows
Advanced European powers: Infra 3, trade 3 (except for a few major trading powers that have higher trade)
Backwards European powers: Infra 3, trade 2 (except for Russia, which got trade 3 for game-balancing purposes, because it is so damn expensive)
Advanced Oriental powers: Infra 3, trade 3 (China, Nippon only)
Trading muslim powers: Infra 2, trade 3
Backwards Oriental powers: Infra 2, trade 2
Mongols &etc: Infra 1, trade 2
Pagan rabble: Infra 0, trade 0

The dividing line between advanced and backwards European powers is implemented more or less as an east-west split going through Poland with the Ottoman Empire and Russia as the main exceptions. (Poland included as advanced)

1492:

Algiers
* Fleet changed from 20/0/5 to 0/40/5 (support limit only approx 25, but galleys are cheap)

* Slightly increased tax income

Austria
* Alsace (Strassburg) now starts as part of Austria (the province now represents the Vorderösterreich rather than the tiny Bishopric)
* Odenburg is now Austrian rather than Hungarian (capital city, Guns, Austrian since 1491. Giving the whole province is more of a HAB/OE balance issue)

Bohemia
* Very slightly increased manpower of Bohemia

Brandenburg
* DP settings changed from stock 1419 settings (8/1/4/8/5/6/5/9). Now less aristocratic (-2),
more centralised (+2), innovative (+2), and land-focused (+1) (6/3/6/8/5/7/5/9)

Genoa
* Fleet is now 0/50/5 rather than 28/0/5

* The fortress of Veneto is now Mighty
* Slightly increased manpower and tax values of Venice

* Odenburg is now Austrian rather than Hungarian (capital city, Guns, Austrian since 1491. Giving the whole province is more of a HAB/OE balance issue)
* Krain is now Austrian rather than Hungarian (debatable, given that the Krain province does not really correspond to Habsburg Carniola, but the Habsburgs are being beefed up a bit, so let's see how it works out)
* Istria is now Austrian rather than Venetian (gives Austria access to the sea in Trieste and provides a roadblock for the Ottomans who can no longer march to Venice)
* Granted cores on all of Hungary [good claim since 1491, strong since 1515, and will encourage a clash over Hungary rather than sitting around waiting for the OE to trigger the annexation event]

Bohemia
* Very slightly increased manpower of Bohemia

Bourbonnais
* Annexed by France 7 years early.

Brandenburg
* DP settings changed from stock 1419 settings (8/1/4/8/5/6/5/9). Now less aristocratic (-2),

Release 1.0.9. August 24th, 2003
------------------------------------------------------------
Daghestan/Azerbaijan are now both kurdish rather than turkish, and both the Ottoman Empire
and Persia have kurdish as state culture. This makes both of these provinces very attractive
to both empires, and should, hopefully, provoke strife. The province culture change is a
gameplay change, not a historical one, since both provinces were surely populated by turks,
but turks loyal to the Persian crown for a long, long, time, and important Persian provinces.

Fortunately, this ties in well with replacing Ottoman Slavonic culture - the Slavonics were
not much used in the Ottoman armies after the early sixteenth century - with Kurdish, and the
Kurds were used in the Ottoman military. Who knows, it might even mean that the Balkans no
longer become solidly muslim overnight as conversion rates plummet.

1492:
Terrain/Goods changes from 1520 setup imported.

CoT changes:
* Cuzco (#169) CoT moved to Lima (#168), coastal CoTs are more readily accessible to traders
* Kansai (#686) CoT moved to Kyushu (#688) - see Nippon entry
* Zacatecas (#27) CoT moved to Tlaxcala (#29), coastal CoTs are more readily accessible to traders

China
* Now uses highly experimental new AI - Feedback on overall efficiency and specific idiocy requested

England
* Justices of the Peace (tax collectors in Midlands 244, Kent 248, Yorkshire 241, Bristol 249, Lincoln 245 and Wessex 246)
* DP changes: Ari-2, Cen+1, Inn+2, Mer+1, now 5/7/6/3/3/4/7/5

Nippon
* Kansai CoT and capital moved to Kyushu from start to make CoT-snatching harder

Ottoman Empire
* Gain Kurdish culture
* Loses Slavonic culture (not really used after the early 16th century)
* Increased manpower of Thrace (now base 8)
* DP changes: Now same DP as 1520 (7/5/3/7/6/7/4)

Persia
* Starting fleet reduced to 5 warships
* DP changes: Offensive-3 to 6, quality+2 to 4, land-1 to 7

Sibir
* Bugfix: Swapped Altai/Mongol cultures so Altai is now primary culture (i.e. Sibir now converts pagans to Altai, not Mongol)

1520:

CoT changes:
* Cuzco (#169) CoT moved to Lima (#168), coastal CoTs are more readily accessible to traders

Release 1.0.8. July 5th, 2003.
------------------------------------------------------------
1492:

Selectable nations
* Granada is now selectable

Timurid Empire
* Map knowledge added: 522, 1529, 1530, 1532, 1533

1520:

CoT Shuffle
* Omani CoT moved from Muscate to Al Kharam, which is now controlled by Portugal

Merchants added to all centres of trade

Major country change:
* Poland and Lithuania has been merged into Poland-Lithuania from game start.
This is done primarily because the vassal relationship did not enable the
close Polish-Lithuanian cooperation before the union and because it was
misused too often in MP by Sweden and Russia. In MP, those two nations commonly
repeatedly rape AI Lithuania for provinces, which cannot be prevented in any
way by Poland as they sign separate peace with Lithuania. The result is typically
that Poland-Lithuania has no chance to be as strong as historically as they are
in decline from the very game start, and that nobody really wants to play them.
To merge is an attempt to remedy this situation.

The merging includes:
* The unification events 3447, 3475, 3476 have been slept
* Complete core shield and province ownership merge of Poland and Lithuania
* The Commonwealth of Poland-Lithuanian has Lithuanian culture from game start
* The techgroup is orthodox from game start
* The weapons manufactory in Krakow, which was granted to boost Poland's support limit, is gone
* Centralisation is decreased by 1 to 1 (as it would have done in the unification event)
[Yes, this means that the Henrykian articles are extremely hard to avoid -
- and so is the Liberum Veto. Learn to deal with it. The Polish Kings did.]
* Increased relations with the house of Habsburg (125) to lessen the risk of war over Bohemia

Bremen
* Trade increased from 3 to 4

Delhi
* Gives Thar & Bikaner to the Mughal Empire (Tiger on the Border has now happened)

England

France
* Relations with Scotland at +100 (Auld Alliance)

Genoa
* Trade increased from 4 to 5

Gujarat
* Gains Bombay
* Fixed Type that gave Gujarat negative relations with Provence rather than Portugal :D

* Empire ruled from Madrid, dp-settings changed, treasury reduced

Brandenburg
* Loses core shields on Poznan (gained in "1st partition of Poland") and Silesia (gained in the "Effects of the Pragmatic Sanctions")

China
* Minimal forts in all provinces. No more 99% victory score by overrunning central China with a few cavalry armies.

Muscowy
* Removed naval manufactory (no longer needed with the reduction in the Orthodox tech group modifier)

Navarre
* Now owns Béarn, capital moved north to Béarn (historically, Spain annexed the southern part around 1512, after which the capital moved north, and Navarre remained until Henri III of Navarre became king of France in 1589. This is the best I can do within the province borders and without adding events)

Persia, take 2! Now based on approximate situation 1506-1512 rather than an arbitrary choice of all Perisan cultured provinces.
* Capital moved to Tabriz (which is where Ismaîl established his throne)
* Added Daghestan, Armenia, Kurdistan, Nuyssaybin as cores
* Removed Fine Arts Academy from Tabriz
* Incorporated Ak Koyunlu. It was the area conquered first by Ismaîl, after all.

* Added Baluchi, Kurdish, Turkish, Uzbek culture - widely accepted within Persia (unlike Afghani - the Afghans were never anything but trouble)
* Mekran to Baluchistan
* Khorasan, Meched to Uzbeks (closest equivalent)
* naval tech-1 to 3
* Karim Khan now minister 1757-1773 for Ismaîl III as per remark in monarchs.per. (Simulated via a new monarch)

Spain
* DP-Quality+1 to 8
* DP-Land+2 to 5 (The united kingdom of Aragon and Castile had just completed a long land-based conquest)
* Rousillon Iberian and made a core of Spain
* Naval tech-1 to 6

Uzbeks
* Gain Khorasan and Meched from Persia
* Tech 2/0/1/1 (up from 1/0/0/0)

Release 1.0.4. April 2nd, 2003: "The Persia Nerfing Release"
------------------------------------------------------------

Persia
* Changed dp-sliders yet again. Now 7/3/3/9/9/5/2/7. The Persians are now narrowminded decentralised landgrubbers with 0 colonists/year as some vocal people found appropriate :p
* Tech 5/4/2/2. No longer granted trade 3 for the great importance of Persian traders on the Silk Road due to the howls of the Euro-centric, Persia is reduced to trade 2 with 10,000 invested in trade, leaving only 10,500 to reach trade 3. The bonus to naval and infrastructure got wiped as well. As a sop, got the option to assault fortresses with land 5. Woohoo.

Timurids
* Tech 4/3/2/2. Bonuses to trade and infrastructure wiped in a preemptive strike. Left the land tech bonus. It insures that the "Bâburs Ambition" gives the Timurids just enough land tech to assault.
