SotS][ is most definitely a really good fun game to play now and something of a challenge on occasions on hard difficulty. It also has exceptional replay value generated by a number of design factors including the clever design of the fixed maps, the randomizing of planets within the fixed systems on each map, the big differences between the races and what is known as the "sado-randomizer" which radically alters your access to technologies from game to game.

 Game is quite fun and exciting. Have you played it lately?

I think he is referring to the "uncompleteness" feel to the game itself. I won't go into too much depth here for brevity.

SoTSpedia feel like many entries are missing.

Planet types are having an existential crisis. Do they actually contribute to gameplay at all?

Some LV design feel like it have features that do not co-exist very well together on a hull.

To just name a few potential issues.

Economic rating on my planets keeps falling, despite trade being above goods produced, and I can't see other issues. I have no police cutters but a fleet on each planet. I don't understand what is going on?

I can only assume that's intentional. LVs are obligate multi-role designs. Inconvenient as that may be.

Trade above goods produced? That...shouldn't be possible, should it?

I'd expect you're overlooking something on the trade end, possibly having a place to deliver the goods to. I assume you'd notice if the planet had very low morale, which results in loss of economic rating. I don't know of anything else that could have the effect you describe...

I'm not sure, as i understand importing goods aren't sufficient by itself. Other systems (at trade range) must have enough export capacity otherwise -3 morale occurs. Some races have low trade range (Loa etc.) so this problem occurs, researching antimatter helps a bit.

Not in that way you are thinking of. Lets me give you an example of where I am coming from.

Let play as the Loa and you are on the warmonger path (duh!). You have 4 LV to pick from and you can already take transport LV out of the equation for an invasion fleet. You have 3 choices: Invasion, Combat (called Leviathan in ship design window), and Carrier. Guess which one of those strongly favorite Loa play style (*Hint* less biosphere)? You can encourage your enemy to do some biosphere damage through terraform. That is just the surface of the iceberg.

Another potential issue is if I am playing a non-Loa racial empire. I don't really have a good pick on DN/LV for "assault shuttle" function. Even the invasion design, intend as taking planets role, has IOBM which can do lot of damage to the biosphere via terraform damage. Why IOBM? Well remember LV move at a SUPER snail pace in tactical phase and you are more likely to glassed planets before your assault shuttle get into range. Same issue with the double siege driver they just don't work well with taking planet which is I think one of their intend function but doesn't mesh well with glassing planet function.

It was debt that was lowering the economic rating. Each turn by 2.
Oh, that'd do it, yeah.
Been running my non-industrial planets at 100% pop. Huge increase in tax income, but what happens when they run out of resources?
They have zero resources. That's all. The only special effect of having zero resources is that you can't lose any more.

Oh, so it's really just you insisting that 'invasion' LVs should be good for leaving planets intact?

I gotta say, I don't see any evidence that that's what they're supposed to be about.

Poll for new downloadable content

Hi everybody!

I have been reading the forums (both paradox and kerberos) and i see pattern emerging. People a recognising that this game has much moore to give and are willing to pay for extra dlc's. Now this all great and neat but nowhere could I spy any polls to give it a voice. I dont post much in the forums im moore of a reader so bear with me if im already encroaching on an existing thread.

Now for the rules!

1, simply type "signed" if you agree to the idea of new dlc material
2, type "signed and will pay" if you are willing to pay for new dlc meterial
3, keep it simple people, this is NOT a discusion thread:excl:

Hopefully this will help the cause and give Paradox an incentive to give a go for new dlc development!

Thank you for your cooperation!
